Speed up aviation hub construction in Xinjiang plans to build 8 more airports in three years

Shiliuyun/Xinjiang Daily (reporter Ma Yining reported) The reporter learned from the 2023 working conference held by Xinjiang Airport Group that Xinjiang Airport Group will accelerate the construction of key projects in the "14th Five Year Plan". By 2025, it plans to build 8 airports and focus on building a modern airport network system. By the end of the "14th Five Year Plan", the number of civil airports in Xinjiang will reach 33.

In 2022, Zhaosu Tianma Airport, Alar Tarim Airport and Tashkurgan Hongqilafu Airport will be built and put into operation in Xinjiang. There are 25 civil transport airports, ranking first in the country. From 2023 to 2025, Xinjiang Airport Group plans to build 8 airports in Qitai, Bayinbuluke, Balikun, Luntai, Wusu, Hebukesaier, Pishan, and the 38th Regiment (Qiemo) of the Second Division of Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps.

This year, Xinjiang Airport Group cooperated with the local government to accelerate the preliminary work of new airport construction projects in Wusu, Hebukesair and Pishan. At the same time, we will make every effort to promote the construction of Qitai and Bayinbuluke airports, actively strive to start the construction of Luntai Airport new projects within the year, and start the construction of Nalati and Karamay Airport reconstruction and expansion projects within the year. At present, 61% and 64% of the total project amount of Qitai and Bayinbuluke airport new projects have been completed respectively, and the general plan and preliminary design approval of Balikun airport new projects have been completed.

In order to further promote the construction of the "Air Silk Road", Xinjiang Airport Group has increased its market development efforts and improved its route accessibility. This year, more than 4 international passenger routes were newly opened and resumed, more than 2 domestic and foreign airlines were newly introduced to operate regular flights, more than 10 new and encrypted regional direct flights outside Xinjiang, and more than 8 new and encrypted regional inter flight routes within Xinjiang. Further integrate and optimize airport logistics resources throughout Xinjiang, and vigorously promote the construction of aviation logistics parks. Continue to encrypt domestic and international cargo routes, vigorously develop air cargo charter business, explore the establishment of overseas cargo terminals, expand the categories and coverage of cargo sources, and develop international air logistics business in Eastern Europe, Central Asia and other regions.
