New features

Since February 2023, we are proud to provide you with new features of Wiclax. This feature is available to everyone today in beta form. It will then be invoiced as an option, annually 100 euros (excluding taxes).

This is the function we as timekeepers dream of, and we hope it can bring you additional comfort at the finish line.

Specifically, it includes interrogating the recorder directly from Wiclax.

For example, imagine a competitor complaining because he is not in the ranking. He told you that he crossed the finish line, just after 1665.

All you have to do is find the competitor number 1665 in the result grid, and then right-click to access the "Video" submenu in the context menu (please note the keyboard shortcuts Ctrl+Shift+V)。

 Wiclax (event management)

Wiclax will immediately ask your VCR to load the video corresponding to the runner's pass.

 Wiclax (event management)

The loaded video shows the thirty second record of the relevant rider before and after passing. The opening position is about 3 seconds before the selected rider passes.

You can stop the video by clicking.

You can use the right arrow on the keyboard to scroll through the video frame by frame. You can also use the left arrow to move backward, but this is more troublesome due to the limitations of the video format. The easiest way is to use the middle cursor to bring the video back to the desired moment.

This button+allows you to add found riders to the video directly in Wiclax.

This new feature is based on the use of video devices at the finish line. The video equipment must be composed of Dahua (one of the leading brands in the industry) digital video recorder and IP camera.

Please note that the recorder's firmware must be version 4.

The recorder must be connected to the same local network as the computer hosting the Wiclax software, and have the same type of IP address. Everything can be configured through the recorder interface.

Then, you just need to set this information in the video window when you first open the video window.

It is just the IP address and channel of your video recorder (these video recorders can have up to 4 cameras), and the user name and password of your Dahua video recorder (you can create a dedicated user).

  New version 9.3

Here, we will make this new seasonal payment again to see what's new:

  performance

It is time to conduct some new tests and basic work on Wiclax's behavior under strict restrictions. Continuous development and integration of new functions also means providing continuous attention in these areas. This time, we focus on the configuration of large-scale competitions, a large number of participants and a large number of timing locations.

In order to avoid the complex details of working in the black box, we have eliminated a certain number of bottlenecks and made better use of parallel task processing. In any case, Wiclax's excellence will not be compromised. Any ranking is still calculated in real time and ready for printing/exporting/broadcasting. I hope you will appreciate these improvements!

Calculated field

You have seen them in the custom data section of the event, where you can enter calculation formulas to provide such fields.

The new feature is that we have introduced some Wiclax specific functions that can be used in formulas:

TimeToMs(), MsToTime(), AddTimes(), SubTimes() can be used to operate on Wiclax time values.

WxVar(), which takes any variable identifier listed in the custom export format reference as a parameter, which you may have found for other purposes. For example, in many other possibilities, you can get the number of completers in the participant category.

   Integral calculation

Similarly, we introduced the function of editing user-defined formulas for integral calculation. The simple points list awarded according to the position in the ranking is not flexible enough.

 Wiclax (event management)

  Bundle Report

Bundle report is still called stage summary in Wiclax, because it is necessary in the context of cycling stage competition. But our goal is to give it a broader purpose, for example, when you are asked to When a supplementary report is used as a document.

Therefore, we continue to refactor many things to bring greater flexibility at all levels. The following is a summary of the latest improvements:

Quickly select the report to embed. Each item can be temporarily disabled

Multiple predefined templates: standard template, compact template and 2-column template (configuration can be imported/exported, and custom list will be saved together with event file soon)

For each report, you can select the maximum number of rows and specify its layout as multiple columns

In print preview, you can click a subreport and access its own layout options. For example, this includes selecting data fields to print- Especially for the report configuration of this bundle, select the halo layout, etc

On a general level, you can say that the report will start with some covers. Combined with the new game bulletin function, you can fill them with some custom graphic content.

 Wiclax (event management)

  Match bulletin

The competition bulletin is comprehensively managed together with the event: the items of each stage are recorded in a free version in Word style format and can be included in the stage summary report. It is very suitable for bicycle racing, and can also enrich Any type of document printed by Wiclax.

 Wiclax (event management)

  Real time screen

Continuing to make real-time screen design fun and powerful, there are two great new features:

Some predefined style templates can be applied to the result/participant list widget with one click, thus eliminating your own research on how to adjust CSS Style. If you don't find anything close in this selection, please share your presentation, and we are happy to enrich it.

Access rights are added to the entire Google font list of your screen style, just select any one from the list.

 Wiclax (event management)

  bonus

Like bicycle racing, this is a must for Criterion, but not only that, the new module also provides this function.

You can easily set up a new award circle during the competition by simply entering its prize grid.

 Wiclax (event management)

In addition to the bonus, you can now automatically award points or time rewards according to the passing order of the given lap speed (for the race managed as lap speed).

   Exchange and/or transfer of results

Although different scenarios must be considered, and it is not always easy to clearly consider which operations must be performed, we have introduced a new dialog box to clarify the options when some result data must be transferred to another participant. The most common use case is to deal with bib/chip physical allocation errors.

I hope you will have more confidence in it.

Official Tutorial

interpretation

Wiclax provides the ability to manage certain events involving multiple phases (in its expert version). The main features of multi-stage event management are as follows:

Each stage has its own standard (distance, date, name...)

Competitor lists are generally common at all stages

Some general classifications can be displayed and printed for each stage.

Wiclax distinguishes between two types of phased events: events with dependent phases and events with independent phases. This option must be defined when the event is created (in the wizard) and cannot be modified later.

Stage Label

By default, the term "phases" is used for events, but you can specify these phases as rounds, special phases, or half phases. This selection can be done in the event creation wizard or in the general options window of the event (access: event:: event/phase:: property, then event/phase).

Explore the stages

The event phase is represented by its number and is located on the right above the main grid. The stage currently displayed is displayed on a blue background. The active stage is symbolized by a small green circle.

 Wiclax (event management)

Activity phase

To avoid any possible confusion, Wiclax allows major modifications only when the currently displayed stage is an active stage.

To make a phase active, simply double-click the number directly above the grid, or answer "Yes" when the software warning displays a phase that is not active and suggests activating it.

General classification

General classification of Wiclax real-time computing.

The general classification of events with relevant stages is handled on the basis of all participants in the event. The general classification of events with independent stages is based on the players who have completed each stage.

Stages and competitions

In a particular case of a stage with many competitions, it is believed that a contestant must rank in a stage, if and only if some other contestants belonging to his race are ranked in this stage. An example of a series consisting of 10 special mountain bike stages, in which one kind of riders did not participate in the first two stages. This category of riders will be assigned to specific races. Therefore, they will appear in the final general classification instead of ranking in the first two stages.

Therefore, the associated contest stage is automatically detected without any specific settings.

Calculation rules

The general classification calculation rules followed by Wiclax refer to the UCI Regulations (Section 2.6.015):

When two or more contestants get the same time in the personal general classification, the minutes and seconds recorded by the timekeeper in the personal time trial will be returned to the total time to make a decision between the contestants. If the result is new and equal, or there is no separate time trial stage, the number of seats obtained in each stage will be added. As a last resort, the seats obtained in the last stage will be considered.

This method of calculation is usually applicable to sports other than bicycles (if not fully compliant).

Calculation mode

It is possible to get a general classification calculated "in the best round". In this case, the time of each round (or stage) is not added, and the best time obtained by each contestant is generally considered by classification. This option can be defined in the Event Options screen (access: Event:: Event/Phase:: Properties, then Event/Phase).

Summary Columns

The grid and printout of general classification can display additional columns to provide information about the time and level of each stage before classification. This option is available from the data selection menu.

Subordinate stage

When the competition rules do not allow players who have not completed one stage to run to the next stage, the stages are different.

consequence

When you enter a contestant, he will register in the starting list of each stage of the project, and will get a red cross bib mark () in each stage except the first stage.

Therefore, if a contestant in the list of contestants in a stage is painted with a red cross, it means that he is not a starter in this stage, or he has not completed the competition in the previous stage. In the second case, according to the regulations, the player cannot participate in the current stage of the competition, nor can he obtain any results.

When you delete a competitor, it will be deleted from all competition stages.

You cannot delete a competitor's results that have already produced results in the next stage.

The strikeout line of red fork players printed on the starting list and team list.

Independence stage

The independent phase provides greater flexibility for registration management. In this mode, participants do not need to run all stages, nor do they need to register in all stages. Wiclax calculates a general category, which only includes contestants who have run and completed all stages (until the current stage of calculating the general category).

consequence

The competitor registration form displays a framework that allows you to specify the scope of operations, which can be only active stages or all stages. This selection affects the following operations:

Competitor Registration

If a competitor only registers at the current stage, it will only be visible at that stage and will be ignored in the general category.

If a competitor has already registered at another stage, it is impossible to register another competitor under the same bib number.

If you enter the bib number owned by participants who registered in another stage but not in the current stage, you will be proposed to:

Register him to the activity stage

He is also registered at every other stage.

Competitor Removal

You can choose (in the Competitors Registry) to remove competitors from the active phase only or from all phases. The results he had at the relevant stage were also deleted.

Competitor modification

At each stage of the competitor's registration, changes made to the competitor's registration are reported.

Opening remarks

Wiclax provides the ability to manage events with a prologue. You can set prologue options in the phase settings of the event creation wizard.

The prologue is the "preliminary stage" of the event, which must be a time trial. The stage after the preamble is considered as the first stage

Half stage

Wiclax can manage half a phase, although it involves some operations.

Definition of half stage: a stage can be divided into two different routes, which are called half stage. Usually, the race is held on the same day. The classification of stages corresponds to the general classification of two and a half stages, which is the classification considered in the general classification of races.

In the classic stage competition, there are two half stage operations:

Create a standard event file, where two half phases will be represented by one phase.

Create another event file that will be used to manage the two halves. Therefore, this event will be divided into two stages. Open the General Options dialog box and select the Half Phase option for the phase label properties.

Manage your activities in the first file until the half day.

To manage a half phase, first import the participant list from the first file to the second file.

Enter the results of two and a half stages in the second file.

Edit the general classification of the two half stages corresponding to the current day classification.

Copy this general classification to the clipboard (select all grid rows, then control+c).

Paste/import these results into the main event file of the retention phase.

Cancelled stage

Wiclax provides the ability to mark one or more stages of an event as cancelled.

Cancel Phase

You can cancel a phase by clicking the Canceled Phase check box in the event options window of the Phase tab. Warning: You can cancel a phase only after the previous phase runs (that is, all results have been entered) and before the next phase runs (that is, no results have been entered). You can cancel a phase only if you have not entered the results of the next phase.

Consequences of stage cancellation

Canceling a phase can keep it in the event phase flow without affecting different classifications. Therefore, the general classification after the cancellation stage (or multiple successive cancellation stages) is strictly equal to the general classification at the end of the last competitive stage, for example. Cancelled stages will not be taken into account when calculating general teams or point classifications.

The list of starters will remain unchanged after the cancellation of the stage.
