The average monthly active users (MAU) reached 97.0 million, compared with 101.2 million in the same period of 2021, down 4.2 million; The average monthly paid members reached 10.9 million, an increase of 99.5% over the same period in 2021.

In terms of revenue, in the third quarter of 2022, Zhihu's total revenue was 911.7 million yuan, up 10.7% from 823.5 million yuan in the same period of 2021. Among them, advertising revenue was 196.7 million yuan, compared with 321.1 million yuan in the same period of 2021. The income of paid members was 335.4 million yuan, up 88.1% from 178.3 million yuan in the same period of 2021. The revenue of content commercialization solution is 265.2 million yuan, compared with 278.4 million yuan in the same period of 2021. The income from vocational training increased from 14.0 million yuan in the same period of 2021 to 780000 yuan in the third quarter of 2022. Other income was 36.3 million yuan, up 14.7% from 31.7 million yuan in the same period of 2021.

Revenue and cost increased from 398.6 million yuan in the same period of 2021 to 467.3 million yuan in the third quarter of 2022. Gross profit increased from 424.8 million yuan in the same period of 2021 to 444.4 million yuan in the third quarter of 2022. The gross profit rate was 48.7%, compared with 51.6% in the same period of 2021, down 2.9 percentage points.

In terms of expenses, Zhihu's total operating expenses in the third quarter of 2021 decreased from 747.3 million yuan in the same period of 2021 to 723 million yuan in the third quarter of 2022. Among them, sales and marketing expenses increased from 374.7 million yuan in the third quarter of 2021 to 478.3 million yuan in the third quarter of 2022; R&D expenditure decreased from 184.7 million yuan in the same period of 2021 to 160.8 million yuan in the third quarter of 2022; General and administrative expenses decreased from 188 million yuan in the same period of 2021 to 83.9 million yuan in the third quarter of 2022.

The operating loss decreased from 322.5 million yuan in the same period of 2021 to 278.6 million yuan in the third quarter of 2022. The change in the fair value of financial instruments was a loss of 79.3 million yuan, compared with the income of 11.1 million yuan in the same period of 2021. The net loss was 297.6 million yuan, compared with 269.8 million yuan in the same period of 2021, an increase of 10.3% year on year. The adjusted net loss (non GAAP) was 250.6 million yuan, compared with 112.4 million yuan in the same period of 2021, an increase of 122.95% year on year.

As of September 30, 2022, Zhihu's cash and cash equivalents, time deposits and short-term investments were 6.6 billion yuan, compared with 7.4 billion yuan as of December 31, 2021.
