Explain the ROHS standard in detail

1. What is RoHS? RoHS is the abbreviation of the Restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment. The basic content of RoHS is to restrict the use of six harmful substances, such as lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE), in electronic and electrical equipment products newly launched on the market from July 1, 2006. After the issuance of the RoHS Directive, it has become an official law within the EU since February 13, 2003; Before August 13, 2004, EU member states shall convert into their own laws/regulations; On February 13, 2005, the European Commission re examined the scope of the Directive and, taking into account the development of new science and technology, drafted additional items in the list of prohibited substances; After July 1, 2006, the EU market will officially ban the sale of products containing six types of substances that exceed the standard. 2. What are hazardous substances? RoHS lists six kinds of harmful substances, namely, lead Pb, cadmium Cd, mercury Hg, hexavalent chromium Cr6+, PBDE, PBB. 3. Why launch RoHS? It was first noticed that electrical and electronic equipment contained heavy metals harmful to human health when cadmium was found in the cables of game consoles sold in the Netherlands in 2000. In fact, the soldering tin and printing ink of packaging box, which are widely used in the production of electrical and electronic products, contain harmful heavy metals such as lead. 4. When will RoHS be implemented? The EU will implement RoHS on July 1, 2006. At that time, electrical and electronic products that use or contain heavy metals, PBDE, PBB and other flame retardants will not be allowed to enter the EU market. 5. Which products are specifically involved in RoHS? RoHS aims at all electrical and electronic products that may contain the above six harmful substances in the production process and raw materials, mainly including white goods, such as refrigerators, washing machines, microwave ovens, air conditioners, vacuum cleaners, water heaters, etc., black goods, such as audio and video products, DVD, CD, TV receivers, IT products, digital products, communication products, etc; Electric tools, electric electronic toys, medical electrical equipment
