The purpose of beekeeping is nothing more than three. One is to obtain bee products in exchange for economic benefits to maintain a livelihood and improve the quality of life. The other is to obtain a certain amount of remuneration as a sideline with appropriate input, without any output or harm to elegance. The third is to have hobbies to gain happiness from beekeeping. Bees have their own way of survival. Some achieve their own goals through human intervention, and some let nature take its course and leave it to the bees themselves.
4 h( h; H' A8 J4 Z+ |1 G At the end of February this year, I bought bees from Taobao and started to raise them as a hobby. My goal was to enrich the life of the elderly after retirement and get fun from beekeeping. At that time, I didn't understand the mystery, let alone the technology, which can be said to be a novice. I just got some technology from the Internet and my own exploration, analysis and thinking, It is more natural to follow its bees. 6 X0 r) [4 }# o, W$ t- M
Here are some insights from beekeeping this year. Many of them will go against some beekeeping related technologies, requirements, and the usual practices of beekeepers. Here are some of my own opinions:
h9 \- {7 A4 }0 L. y1 P Bee spleen proportionality or bee more than spleen: what is bee spleen proportionality or bee more than spleen? Bee friends all know that there are four spleens in the beehive, which means there should be four spleens or more than four spleens. Otherwise, it is difficult to feed the larvae or incubate the young bees with more spleens and fewer bees. For this problem, I have my own opinion: it should be different according to the different flowering period and temperature. We should not blindly pursue the bee spleen proportionality or more bees than the spleen. In the big honey flow period and the high temperature season, bees can be less than the spleen. The reason is that a lot of space should be vacated for honey storage, which is conducive to mobilizing the enthusiasm of bees to collect honey; In the high temperature season, it is conducive to the heat dissipation in the box, reducing the wing flapping of bees and the consumption of honey by bees. From March to September this year (except for April, when no honey is available), I have been keeping the number of bees less than their spleens. Especially in May, an original colony of bees separated and left four daughter spleens, while the number of bees with only two spleens did not move into another colony to incubate bees. This can be confirmed. Frequently remove the old spleen and replace it with a new one: most bee friends think that the queen prefers the new spleen to the old one, so the old spleen should be cut off or added to the nest base in time to let the bee rebuild the new spleen, which is conducive to the queen's preference for laying eggs on the new spleen and breeding bees. I think it is just a one-sided view. To solve this problem, different measures should be taken according to different seasons and situations. For example, in summer, the queen likes to lay eggs on the old spleen, but the new spleen does not like it. Keeping the old spleen is more conducive to breeding bees in summer and reducing bee decay during the summer; At the same time, a large amount of honey should be consumed during spleen building, and retaining the old spleen is conducive to improving the yield of honey. Since I bought a group of queens from Sichuan when the temperature was high in May this year, the whole army was destroyed on the road, and all the honey spleen on the upper part softened and fell off, leaving only 2/3 of the old spleen in the middle and lower parts of the nest. Put the old spleen into the box, and the bees rebuilt a new spleen in the upper gap, and connected the old spleen in the middle and lower parts. It can be confirmed that the queen bee likes to lay eggs and breed bees on the old spleen in the middle and lower parts of the nest. What is mature honey: The so-called mature honey is the water honey collected by bees from flowers. After being brewed and sealed by bees in the nest, it is mature honey. It is not necessarily that taking honey once a year or twice is mature honey, or it is mature honey after being sealed for more than 7 days. As long as there is no essential difference between a day after being sealed and a year after being sealed, it is only that after being sealed, As time goes on, the color of honey inside the nest becomes darker and different. As long as all the honey in the waiting area is covered, it can be taken out, which can mobilize the enthusiasm of bees to collect honey, reduce the need for bees to go out to collect flowers because they have no place to store honey, or increase the consumption of honey by bees to create extra spleen to store honey. From the number of 7 bees I bought at the end of February this year to the number of 15 bees in September, an average of about 11 bees took 129 jin of capping honey. Timing of honey collection: For beekeepers who do not take this as an industry and make a living, they always take honey of good quality and high concentration for consumption, or give it to relatives and friends. As I said in the third point, as long as most of the honey has been sealed (of course, it is difficult to achieve 100% sealing), it should be taken out. The honey on the spleen is not collected in time or stored on the spleen for too long, It affects the enthusiasm of bees to go out to collect honey. At the same time, it is easy to vaporize the sealed honey in some seasons and flowers, causing losses (I lost two spleens in gasification this year), affecting the output of honey. I may be an ignorant person fearless. I used to take honey every time, no matter how many spleens there were in the box, I took out all the honey from the spleens without leaving any for bees to use. Because as long as the weather and the flower source season were well controlled, each group of bees would go out to collect honey for one day during the big honey flow period, which would be enough for the group of bees to eat for 5-7 days. Later, considering that the spleen on the spleen where the queen bee was, Afraid of hurting the queen bee. As far as possible, let nature take its course and avoid human intervention: after thousands of years of survival and reproduction, bees have their own survival rules. They can adapt to not very bad living environment, but we have not fully mastered and understood that they need to collect honey and reproduce bees to let them naturally. From the end of February this year, the bees with seven spleens (three small groups) were bought back. There was a large rape flower source outside to collect honey, and the capping honey was still taken out. After the end of the rape flower source, the honey was taken twice, and some old bees died after overwintering. The number of bees was reduced to five spleens. In April, there was no large flower source outside and no honey was available. The bees returned to seven spleens after entering the natural bee breeding period, In the different tree flower honey flow periods from May to September, the bees themselves collect honey while breeding. I also take out the honey as long as all the honey in the honey area is covered. During this period, the bees slowly reproduce from 7 spleens to 15 spleens (the average monthly bee population is 11 spleens), and the honey collection also reaches 115 jin. In October, there were no large flower plants outside, only a few gallnut trees and other small flowers, and no honey was available. The bees naturally entered the breeding period in autumn. The last time they took honey, only one spleen (about 1.3 kg) of honey was left for each group. Considering that they went out for a week from October 9 to October 14, they were afraid that there was no flower source outside or bad weather would affect the survival and breeding of bees, Each group fed 0.5-1.5 jin of sugared water according to the amount of bees. Yesterday, each group carried out spleen lifting inspection, and found that the honey in the nest did not decrease, but increased to varying degrees. The total amount of bees has reached about 20. Bee keeping should draw on the strengths of others, but not blindly superstitious: I wrote the "Summary of Beekeeping for More than 6 Months" and sent it to the group. Some bee friends kindly reminded me that this honey taking method is killing the goose that lays the golden egg, which will lead to the rapid demise of the bee colony, and even said that it is not far from getting the empty box back, but I am confident that this will not happen, Bees have their own survival rules. When the source of flowers is good, they will collect honey while breeding bees. When the source of flowers is bad, they will naturally enter the rest and breeding period. If they see too much honey and severe decline, they can also stop (or less) taking honey to ensure the population of bees. From 15 bees when they took the last honey on September 21 to 20 days when there is no honey available, The natural bee breeding has reached about 20. The above are some of my humble opinions on finding ways to keep bees. I hope they can be used as a reference for bee friends. You are welcome to point out the inappropriate points in a friendly manner, and also welcome to clap bricks.
