Zhanqi Village is about 50 kilometers west of Chengdu City. It got its name because it became a local flag in the construction of water conservancy and land reform more than 50 years ago.

New Home
Yuangudui Village in Dingxi, Gansu Province, was once a typical deep poverty village. Today, it has lifted the whole village out of poverty and achieved the "butterfly transformation" from "muddy ditch" to beautiful countryside.
Han Lijun, 19, remembers the day of February 3, 2013 vividly. That day was the Lunar New Year. General Secretary Xi Jinping came to Yuangudui Village for an investigation, visited cadres and people of all ethnic groups, and encouraged them to work together to make the day more prosperous.
"The general secretary told me to study hard. The words of the general secretary will encourage me all my life!" she said excitedly.

In the past seven years, Han Lijun's home has undergone tremendous changes: seven years ago, like most families in the village, he lived in adobe houses, and the soil in the yard and road was deep. When it rained, his pants were muddy. In 2014, with the financial support of the dilapidated house renovation project, 40 square meters of white porcelain faced brick houses were built at home. In 2017, nearly 100 square meters of new houses were built. In 2018, Han Lijun's family lifted out of poverty. In 2019, his father bought a car. Han Lijun's grandfather happily said: "The original dream was' upstairs and downstairs, electric lights and telephones'. Now even 'indoor and outdoor, computer cars' have been realized."
All these changes originate from the vigorous poverty alleviation battle in Xiaoshan Village. Hardened roads, tap water, safe houses, economic crops all over the ditch... Today's Yuangudui Village has taken on a new look, and the New Year also has a new taste.
In front of the old stage, Guo Lianbing, the director of the village committee, is organizing a rehearsal of the community fire team: "It's going to be the Spring Festival soon, and we should show the neighbors at the Spring Festival Culture and Art Festival. For the post-70s Guo Lianbing, when he was young, he looked forward to the New Year every day, but now every day is like the New Year. The eyeful red lanterns, Fu characters and Spring Festival couplets outline a strong festive atmosphere in black bricks, grey tiles, wooden sills and red doors. Close to Niangen, walking into the four alleys of Caochang in Beijing, a kind of Beijing flavor and folk custom unique to old Beijing is coming.
In No.40 courtyard of Sitiao, Caochang, 73 year old Zhu Maojin and his family made dumplings together, and they were busy chatting with each other.
"On the 27th of December last year, General Secretary Xi Jinping came to see the neighbors in the four alleys of Wangcaochang. He was so approachable. He joined us to make dumplings, fried noodles, and talked about family affairs. He asked us how our life was, whether the water, electricity, gas, and heating conditions had improved, and whether the annual supplies were ready..." Recalling the scene at that time, the old man felt warm.
"General Secretary Xi Jinping is very concerned about the protection of the old city. He stressed that one of the outstanding features of the old Beijing is the Hutong. We should pay attention to preserving the characteristics of the Hutong so that the city can retain its memory and let people remember their nostalgia." More than 90 years later, the Red Market became active again in a new form. Dalong Village has established a tourism company to develop rural tourism. Not far from the former public sales office, a new public sales office has opened again. It not only sells special food and local specialties, but also introduces the revolutionary stories of that year to tourists. Each new residential building is neat and uniform. Lanterns are hung on both sides of the wide street, like red smiling faces, telling us a moving story of getting rid of poverty and going to a well-off society. Desheng Village, Zhangbei County, Hebei Province, on the eve of the Spring Festival, is permeated with a strong flavor of the year.
"I will never forget the scene when the General Secretary came to my home on January 24, 2017. He sat on my sofa and calculated his income and expenditure account one by one, looking for ways to get rid of poverty and become rich, encouraging everyone to make the potato industry bigger and stronger," said villager Xu Haicheng.
In 2019, Xu Hai planted 28 greenhouses to plant original potato seeds and mini potatoes. He said that he was waiting for the spring sales, if the sales were good, the income would be more than 200000 yuan.
At present, the village is developing homestay tourism, inviting Xu Haicheng's second daughter, who studies Chinese medicine, to return to the village for employment after graduation, and establishing a Chinese medicine physiotherapy center. "It can not only apply what we have learned, but also benefit the villagers. Now, the whole family can roll up their sleeves and work hard, and have a new direction," said Xu Haicheng.
