The 2023 Tengchong Scientists Forum, the Bangladesh China India Myanmar International Logistics Corridor Cooperation Forum, was opened in Tengchong, Baoshan, Yunnan Province, on the 22nd. Experts, scholars and business representatives from China, Bangladesh, India, Myanmar and other countries gathered together to discuss and exchange in-depth under the theme of "promoting the operation and connectivity of international logistics channels in Bangladesh, China, India and Myanmar".
Tengchong City, located in the southwest border of China, is connected with the mountains and rivers of Myanmar. It is the trade center in western Yunnan and one of the earliest areas in China to realize opening up.
Yang Yanlong, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Tengchong Municipal Committee and Mayor of Tengchong, introduced that Tengchong is located in the core area of the northern route of the "Bangladesh China India Myanmar Economic Corridor". For thousands of years, this route has been the international trade route with the best conditions, the shortest distance and the largest population from China to South Asian countries. Relying on this trade route, Tengchong has gathered merchants of all ages and enjoyed prosperous trade, known as "the first city at the extreme edge". Today, Tengchong still continues the unique value of the "International Channel", actively responds to the "Belt and Road" initiative, vigorously develops port economy, and strives to build a cross-border economic cooperation zone integrating cross-border trade, cross-border logistics, cross-border e-commerce, and cross-border tourism on the China Myanmar India Channel.
Myanmar Ambassador to China Wu Ding Maung Swe said in his speech that China is a good neighbor of Myanmar and Myanmar values Myanmar China friendship very much. For a long time, countries along the Bangladesh China India Myanmar Channel have actively developed trade cooperation, cargo transportation, and connectivity. It is hoped that through this forum, better cooperation directions and ways will be explored. Countries will strengthen communication and exchanges in agriculture, investment, trade, culture, customs clearance facilitation, equal opening of ports, and labor cooperation, so as to achieve mutual benefit and win-win results.
