According to the judgment read out by the President of the International Court of Justice, Nawaf Salam, the Israeli military action in Rafah has caused "disastrous consequences" for the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, and the rights of the Palestinian people under the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide face "irreparable damage", The Court demanded that Israel immediately cease its military operations in Rafah.

The International Court of Justice also demanded that Israel continue to open the Rafah crossing to the Gaza Strip to ensure the unimpeded flow of humanitarian assistance. In addition, Israel must allow United Nations investigators to enter the Gaza Strip to investigate genocide allegations and retain relevant evidence. At the same time, the International Court of Justice demanded that Israel report all measures taken to implement the order within one month.

On December 29 last year, South Africa filed a lawsuit with the International Court of Justice, accusing Israel of genocide in the Gaza Strip. On 26 January this year, the International Court of Justice issued a binding "temporary measure", requiring Israel to take immediate action to prevent any act that might subject Palestinians in the Gaza Strip to genocide. On May 10, South Africa urged the International Court of Justice to issue an order demanding that Israel immediately stop its military operations in Rafah and withdraw its troops.

The International Court of Justice is the principal judicial organ of the United Nations. According to the Statute of the International Court of Justice, the International Court of Justice of the United Nations has the right to issue "provisional measures" when it deems it necessary to settle legal disputes submitted to it by States.
