"It has been 16 years since the first performance in Taipei in 2008. Since 2010, this work has been touring all over the mainland, and the village has gradually entered the history." Lai Shengchuan, a famous Taiwan theater director and art director of Shangchang Theater, said that he hopes to use drama to tell the past of the village and let more people know this nostalgia story.

"Treasure Island and a Village" was jointly edited and directed by Lai Shengchuan and Wang Weizhong, a well-known Taiwanese program producer. After 2000, a large number of dependent villages in Taiwan were demolished. In order to preserve this history, the two decided to create a work about dependent villages, about the later life of their parents and the first half of their lives to record this unforgettable past.

Dependent villages refer to the settlements established for the resettlement of millions of mainland soldiers and family members who went to Taiwan. With the change of the times, hundreds of dependent villages across Taiwan have gradually disappeared, and only a few have been preserved. Lai Shengchuan and Wang Weizhong collected hundreds of stories from more than 20 families, and finally condensed the script into more than 40 scenes of three families, which became "Treasure Island and One Village".

Many Taiwanese actors who play the leading role in "Treasure Island and a Village" are "children of the village". Some Taiwanese stars said that each performance was like "going home". For them, the three hours on the stage were like "time travel", returning to the old time with their relatives. In this round of performance, many mainland actors from Shanghai Theater will also participate. The tour of "Treasure Island and One Village" will start from Shangchang Theater in Shanghai in July and meet audiences in Beijing, Xiamen, Foshan and other places in turn, lasting more than one month.
