As an important part of the ancient Shu Path, the "ancient Shu Path" originated in the Spring and Autumn Period, developed in the Qin and Han Dynasties, flourished in the Tang and Song Dynasties, and continued in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Litchi Road starts from Fuling in the south, passes Changshou, Dianjiang, Liangping, Dazhou, Wanyuan to Xixiang in Hanzhong, and arrives in Xi'an along the "Meridian Road". The whole line runs through East Sichuan Ridge Valley, Qinba Mountains, Hanzhong Valley, and Guanzhong Plain, which is the shortest of all lines of Shu Road. The original function of the litchi road is to transport litchi produced in ancient China's Fuzhou (today's Fuling), and it is also the only post road named after fruit in historical data. After the Tang Dynasty, as an important part of the Shu Path system, the Litchi Path gradually became an ancient overland commercial trade route connecting Sichuan, Shaanxi, Hubei, and Chongqing, carrying multiple social affairs such as official and private document transmission, goods trade exchanges, cultural communication, and ethnic integration, and witnessing the rise and fall of the Chinese nation for more than 2000 years. In November 2015, Shu Road (Litchi Road) was listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. In September 2023, the State Administration of Cultural Heritage requested the four provinces and cities of Sichuan, Shaanxi, Gansu and Chongqing to strengthen cooperation and jointly promote the application for World Heritage of Shu Road, including Litchi Road.
The meeting was guided by the Sichuan Provincial CPPCC, Shaanxi Provincial CPPCC and Chongqing Municipal CPPCC, and hosted by the Fuling District CPPCC of Chongqing. The purpose of the meeting is to create a platform for joint discussion, perform duties in a coordinated manner, strengthen the idea of "one game of chess", establish an integrated concept, and work out practical ideas and good strategies for the coordinated development of the cultural and tourism industries along the Lichi Road and jointly promote the high-quality economic and social development of the cities, districts and counties along the Lichi Road.
