On May 10, the 15 day "Science Popularization Caravan Basic Level Trip" activity kicked off in Andir Township, Minfeng County, Hotan, Xinjiang, which opened the South Xinjiang Caravan Campaign. At present, this activity has entered the final stage.

Through a variety of participation modes, such as scientific explanation of exhibits, robot performance, scientific experiments, interaction of practical activity resource packages, course guidance of "science courses in science and technology museums", question and answer of award-winning knowledge, distribution of popular science books, the caravan has provided local people, especially young people, with wonderful popular science experiences. The purpose of this activity is to let young people in southern Xinjiang feel the charm of science, learn scientific knowledge, and promote the spread and popularization of scientific spirit and scientist spirit.

In recent years, the Xinjiang Association for Science and Technology has taken the caravan as an important carrier to promote the integration of science popularization into the culture of Xinjiang, and made full use of the characteristics of the science popularization caravan as a mobile science communication platform to provide people with immersive learning experience through caravan on-site display, interactive experiments, robot performances and other means.

At the same time, the Science and Technology Museum of China was united to innovate the operation mechanism of the science popularization caravan and carry out a variety of science popularization activities. In 2022, a series of activities were successfully carried out, such as "Science and Technology Museum Activities on Campus", "Winter of Science and Technology", "Youth Science Popularization Activities", "Firefly Program - Rural Science Popularization 100 Schools", etc. In 2023, the South Xinjiang Joint Action and the North Xinjiang Joint Action of Science Popularization Caravans will be carried out in Kashi City and Ili Prefecture respectively, and 15 science popularization caravans will be linked to participate in the joint action, to bring the public in the South and North Xinjiang, especially young people, a science popularization feast, and light up the science dream of young people in Xinjiang. In the past two years, the caravan has driven more than 200000 kilometers and served more than 500000 people.
