Zhang Zhijuan was impatient and walked quickly. As long as she received an emergency call for medical treatment, she turned around and disappeared after a few steps.

As a village doctor in Gaofa Village, Pingpo Town, Yangbi Yi Autonomous County, Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province, Zhang Zhijuan will be on call whenever there is someone sick in the village, day or night. In her 30 years of medical service, she has traveled through 13 natural villages and achieved door-to-door service.

Gaofa Village is 28km away from the county seat, with high mountains and steep roads. Previously, the problem of difficulty in getting medical treatment has been puzzling the local people.

When Zhang Zhijuan was 13 years old, her father passed away due to illness. Suddenly, the originally happy family of five lost their support and family life became extremely difficult. Zhang Zhijuan recalled: "The villagers in the village all extended a helping hand to help us do farm work, send food and clothes, treat us as relatives, and let our life slowly improve."

At that time, Zhang Zhijuan secretly made up her mind to learn medicine, treat patients, and help patients who, like her father, were far away from the hospital and did not receive timely treatment.

Although her childhood was hard, Zhang Zhijuan worked very hard. After graduating from the medical class of Yangbi Vocational High School at the age of 19, she returned to Gaofa Village and practiced medicine while taking classes. Later, she became a full-time village doctor in Gaofa Village.

"The mountain is far away from the hospital in the city, so it is inconvenient to go out for a trip. I chose to come back to help these people solve some minor problems. What I wanted to do was to let the villagers spend the least money on medical treatment and not drag the minor illness into a serious illness." Zhang Zhijuan said.

"Xu 嬢嬢嬢嬢嬢嬢嬢嬢嬢嬢嬢嬢嬢嬢嬢嬢嬢嬢嬢嬢嬢嬢嬢嬢屎屎屎屎屎.

Xu Congmei, a villager in Gaofa Village, said: "Doctor Zhang's service is very considerate. Where my body hurts and what medicine I need, I always go to her."

Zhang Zhijuan grew up in a multi-ethnic family. Her grandfather was Yi, her grandmother was Bai, and her aunt married to a Lisu family. Influenced by multi-ethnic culture since childhood, Zhang Zhijuan is familiar with the local ethnic culture and customs, and can speak four national languages, namely Han, Yi, Bai and Lisu. Combining many years of medical experience, she popularized seasonal disease prevention knowledge to villagers in a variety of ethnic languages, so many patients gained new knowledge of disease prevention and treatment.

Zhang Zhijuan, a student of western medicine, also advocates traditional Chinese medicine. After graduating from Dali Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, she used what she learned to create the first Chinese medicine physiotherapy room located in the countryside in the county to provide acupuncture, massage and other services for villagers.

Most of the local villagers make a living by farming and often work in the field. They are basically suffering from arthritis and waist and leg pain. It is said that physical therapy of traditional Chinese medicine has curative effect on waist and leg problems. People from the village have come here one after another. After acupuncture and massage, it has improved a lot. One spread ten, ten spread one hundred, the villagers who came to the physiotherapy became more and more every day, and Zhang Zhijuan's TCM physiotherapy room became famous.

Later, Zhang Zhijuan taught the villagers some simple knowledge and techniques, so that they could massage their families at home to relieve pain. "The fewer people come to the TCM physiotherapy room, the healthier people here are." Zhang Zhijuan doesn't care about the number of patients, but more about the health of patients.

Local villagers not only seek her for medical consultation, but also find her to deliver children. According to incomplete statistics, more than 80 children have been delivered by her. Everyone in the village knows her and praises her for her good medical skills.

Zhang Zhijuan said, "I will study hard when I have time. I hope to have the opportunity to improve my medical skills, improve my level and treat more people."

During the past 30 years, other local hospitals "poached" Zhang Zhijuan with high salaries, but she refused to do so. She said: "The villagers here need me, and I owe them a favor. I can't leave. I must protect the health of every villager."

Zhang Zhijuan also has "selfishness". She "hopes that the treatment of village doctors will be better and better". She is also looking for her own "successor": "Many young people have gone out, so it is not easy to find someone to take over." Zhang Zhijuan hopes that young people can join the ranks of village doctors after the treatment is improved.
