Zhang Wei is currently the director of the orthopaedics department of Pu'er People's Hospital and the master's supervisor of Kunming University of Science and Technology.

Serious cases will lead to disability and loss of ability to live and work. Zhang Wei has been engaged in clinical work for more than 30 years. Zhang Wei led his team to take the lead in carrying out total hip replacement, total knee replacement Backward shoulder joint replacement, spinal orthopedics, spine and limb tumors and other operations, using their superb skills, make patients stand up again.

Under the leadership of Zhang Wei, the annual operation volume of the team has reached more than 3100 sets, more than 800 sets of spinal surgery, and more than 200 sets of various joint replacement. The projects led by Zhang Wei, such as "transplantation of iliac bone flap with deep iliac circumflex vessel", "artificial hip replacement", "3D printing treatment of total knee joint surface replacement", and "lateral anterior approach vertebral reconstruction for treatment of spinal tuberculosis", won one first prize, two second prizes, and two third prizes of Pu'er City Science and Technology Progress Award@ Yunnan Pu'er Federation of Trade Unions
