In the morning, the sky was overcast, but I was very excited. I came to the gate of the office building of the Federation of Trade Unions in Rongcheng County, Baoding City, Hebei Province, early to welcome 47 representatives of the Meituan riders to the first meeting of the first membership congress of the Union of Xuanze Trading Co., Ltd. (Meituan) in Rongcheng County. The company management personnel and the delivery boy who I had dealt with before greeted me warmly. I can't help recalling the difficult situation when I first promoted Meituan (Rongcheng) Company to establish its association.

Before the team came to Rongcheng, it was one of the tasks to promote Meituan (Rongcheng) Company to set up a trade union. Therefore, the focus of the first week's work was to investigate the new forms of employment workers' association building, membership and rights protection services. Although the progress of the research work was not very smooth, after our unremitting communication, the head of Meituan (Rongcheng) finally agreed to come to Rongcheng County Federation of Trade Unions to learn about the situation.

On March 21, when we had face-to-face communication with the head of the company, we found that their concerns about the membership of the Association mainly focused on whether there was a threshold for the Association, what were the advantages and disadvantages of the Association, and payment of trade union funds. We responded to these questions one by one, and said that the trade union would provide services for takeaway riders through care and assistance, skill training, insurance protection, honor recognition and other ways to promote enterprise development. After listening to our explanation, the person in charge of the company dispelled his concern and said that he would discuss with the company headquarters and employees about the establishment of the association.

Seeing that things had taken a turn for the better, the working group and the staff of the Rongcheng County Federation of Trade Unions quickly made plans and contacted the Meituan Headquarters for support. After more than half a month of coordination, on April 7, we went to Meituan (Rongcheng) Company to answer the doubts of the company leader and riders and gain their trust. When we learned that the trade union would then carry out a consolation activity for takeaway riders and set up an outdoor worker post station, everyone smiled and expressed their hope for the establishment of the trade union as soon as possible and their willingness to join the trade union.

By promoting the establishment of Meituan (Rongcheng) Company, I deeply realized that it is not easy to establish grassroots trade unions. Trade union workers should do their work well with a sense of responsibility and a spirit of active responsibility. They should use the enthusiasm and warmth of trade union workers to attract them, organize them, and stabilize them, earnestly safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of workers in new forms of employment, and enhance their sense of gain, happiness, and security.
