Recently, the China Meteorological Administration issued the Energy and Meteorological Service Action Plan (2024-2027) (hereinafter referred to as the "Plan"), which aims to improve the energy and meteorological service capacity and economic and social benefits, and play the role of meteorology in building an energy power.

The Plan clearly states that by 2027, an energy and meteorological service system that meets the needs, is technologically advanced, and has a sound mechanism will be basically built, and the energy and meteorological service capacity and efficiency will be significantly improved, providing high-quality meteorological services throughout the chain for energy production, supply, consumption, and security. The integrated energy meteorological service business covering the whole chain of power supply, power grid, load, and energy storage has been basically established in a short time, from month to month and quarter. It has the national wind and solar energy monitoring and evaluation capabilities of hour and kilometer levels.

The Plan proposes 16 key tasks in four aspects.

First, strengthen the assessment of climate resources, support the planning and site selection of wind and solar energy, carry out a new round of detailed survey of wind and solar energy resources, meteorological services for the site selection of wind and solar power plants, analysis of meteorological conditions for the planning of important transmission lines, and assessment of climate and ecological effects of clean energy development.

The second is to strengthen the refined service of clean energy power generation, help the construction of new power systems, improve the seamless forecasting and forecasting business of wind and solar power generation, continue to carry out the demonstration plan of refined meteorological service of wind and solar power generation, and strengthen the construction of wind and solar energy service platforms and hydropower meteorological forecasting and forecasting services.

Third, strengthen meteorological services for energy supply assurance, help power system operate stably, and strengthen meteorological services for power facility security and energy storage and transportation supply; Carry out electricity trading meteorological service and establish a meteorological service platform for electricity trading market.

Fourth, strengthen openness and cooperation, innovate and improve the energy and meteorological service mechanism, strengthen the scientific and technological innovation of energy and meteorological services, improve the energy and meteorological service standard system, strengthen the management of wind energy and solar energy industry, improve the national and provincial coordinated energy and meteorological service model, and carry out the evaluation of energy and meteorological services.
