Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council held a regular press conference this morning. Zhu Fenglian, spokesman of the Taiwan Affairs Office, presided over the press conference.
People's Daily: Taiwanese youth who accompanied Mr. Ma Ying jeou to visit the mainland said that they had a new understanding of Chinese culture through visits and exchanges, and also felt the cultural shock. "Full marks: 100, 1000.". What's your comment on this? What will be the next arrangements for youth exchanges between the two sides of the Taiwan Straits?
Zhu Fenglian: We all noticed that the visiting Taiwanese youth had a lot of feelings about their trip to the mainland. We have always advocated and actively promoted youth exchanges between the two sides of the Taiwan Straits, and are happy to see more Taiwanese youth come to the mainland to exchange ideas and gains. In the coming months, various exchange activities will be held for Taiwanese youth, such as the Cross Strait Youth Development Forum, the Cross Strait Youth East Lake Forum, Taiwan Youth Lingnan Travel, the Cross Strait Youth Summit, the Cross Strait Youth Culture Month, and the Cross Strait Youth Day.
We sincerely invite Taiwanese youth, especially those who have never been to the mainland, to come to the mainland to have a look, experience the development and progress of the mainland and Chinese culture, and enhance mutual understanding between young friends on both sides of the Taiwan Straits. We will also continue to create more conditions and provide more support for the growth, talent and success of youth on both sides of the Straits. It is hoped that the youth on both sides of the Straits can learn from each other, work together, run the baton of history well, and contribute their youth to the peaceful development of cross Straits relations and the realization of national rejuvenation.
