BEIJING, May 23 (Reporter Liang Xiaohui and Huang Yuqin) Wang Wenbin, spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, hosted a regular press conference on May 23.

A reporter asked: On May 20, Wu Jianghao, the Chinese ambassador to Japan, gave a serious warning to Japan about the recent negative trend of Japan's involvement in Taiwan, saying that "if Japan ties itself to a war vehicle that divides China, the Japanese people will be brought into a fire pit." It was reported that on May 22, Chief Cabinet Secretary Lin Fangzheng said that "the relevant remarks are extremely inappropriate". How does China respond to this?

Wang Wenbin: The Taiwan issue is the core of China's core interests, concerns the political foundation of China Japan relations, and is an insurmountable red line. Some Japanese people have made frequent negative moves on Taiwan related issues recently, and continue to advocate the absurd and dangerous argument that "what is happening in Taiwan is happening in Japan", which seriously violates the spirit of the four political documents of China and Japan and the commitments made by Japan.

Ambassador Wu Jianghao's relevant statements are based on facts, righteous and sincere, which are completely justified and necessary. I want to emphasize once again that no one should underestimate the strong determination, firm will and strong ability of the Chinese people to defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity. If anyone persists in interfering in China's internal affairs and obstructing China's reunification, he will pay a heavy price. (End)
