Mineral resources Liaoning is located in the northern margin of the Pacific Rim mineralization, with superior geological and metallogenic conditions, rich mineral resources, complete varieties and good geographical conditions. At present, 110 kinds of minerals have been found, 66 of which have obtained proven reserves (excluding oil, natural gas, coalbed methane, radioactive minerals, groundwater and mineral water), and 672 mineral sites. Of the 45 major minerals that have a significant impact on the national economy, there are 36 kinds of 620 mining areas in Liaoning Province. Liaoning's magnesite is the dominant mineral in the world, with good quality and shallow burial. The mineral reserve is 2.56 billion tons, accounting for about 85.6% of the country and 25% of the world respectively. There are also six advantageous minerals in the country, including boron, iron, diamond, talc, jade, and oil.
