On May 21, www.taiwan.com.cn, recently, the fifth calligraphy and painting exchange activity and joint exhibition of works from both sides of the Taiwan Straits of "making friends by writing" was held in Wenzhou Longwan Library. More than 30 calligraphers and painters from both sides of the Taiwan Straits gathered together with Shi Mobao to express their aspirations with calligraphy and express their feelings with paintings, and to jointly paint a bright future for both sides of the Taiwan Straits.

This joint exhibition of calligraphy and painting has selected more than 80 paintings and calligraphy works on both sides of the Taiwan Straits, presenting the unique cultural landscape on both sides of the Taiwan Straits in the form of flowers and birds, landscapes, characters, calligraphy, etc., attracting many citizens and painting lovers to stop and enjoy.

During the activity, calligraphers and painters on both sides of the Taiwan Straits also conducted on-site observation and art discussion, conducted in-depth exchanges on the use of painting materials, creative skills and work ideas, and improvised ink splashing, and jointly created a huge painting with the theme of "Eternal Prosperity and Cross Straits Love".

"The pines in the works represent evergreen, while the peonies represent wealth and honor, which means evergreen in China, reflecting the prosperity and integration of the two sides of the Taiwan Straits." Mr. Cai, head of the Taiwan Cultural Exchange Delegation, enthusiastically expounded the original intention of painting. "The culture is rooted in the same origin, and both sides of the Taiwan Straits are close relatives. Holding such an exhibition enables the calligraphers and painters on both sides of the Taiwan Straits to understand that both sides of the Taiwan Straits share the same artistic culture. I hope Wenzhou's good friends and artists will come to Taiwan to exchange and share the profound traditional Chinese culture."

This is the second time that Ms. Li, a Taiwan calligrapher and painter, has participated in the cross-strait calligraphy and painting exchange activity between Wenzhou and Taiwan, "Wenzhou has beautiful natural scenery and strong artistic atmosphere. The last time we went to Taishun to sketch covered bridges, we liked that feeling very much. I incorporated the high mountains and flowing water there into my paintings, so that people who appreciate them have a very happy mood."

Mr. Zhang, a calligrapher and painter in Taiwan, has brought his own series of paintings of hidden forest and ink bamboo, each of which has placed a good vision of cross-strait unity. He very much hopes that through his works, he can convey the emotional ripple of the same root and homology between the two sides of the Straits. Through the exchange of calligraphy and painting, they can deepen their understanding of each other and become more integrated in the level of art and humanity.
