On May 16, www.taiwan.com.cn, recently, the retired Taiwanese general Shuai Huamin returned to his ancestral home, Chitian Town, Fengxin County, Yichun City, Jiangxi Province, to visit his grandfather's tomb. This was his third visit to his hometown.

Shuai Huamin was born in April 1943 in Fengxin County, Jiangxi Province. His father Shuai Yong graduated from the second phase of Huangpu Military Academy and was a major general of the Chinese Kuomintang. In 2009, when he learned that his grandfather's tombstone had been found, Shuai Huamin couldn't wait to return home to find his roots. In 2017, Shuai's Ancestral Hall was completed, and Shuai Huamin returned home with his family to attend the ceremony and visit the tomb again.

After seven years, Shuai Huamin marveled at the changes in his hometown. "When I came back last time, it was all dirt roads. Now it has a new look. A new asphalt road has been built and many beautiful houses have been built."

"Last time I came back in a hurry, everyone was looking forward to your coming back again" "You still look so strong"... After seeing Shuai Huamin coming into the village, the village set off firecrackers, and many old people of the same age came forward to play with him.

In 1949, Shuai Huamin, 6-year-old, left the mainland with his family from Shanghai. He admitted that his only childhood memory still remained at that time. "But there is always a different kind of warmth and kinship among the relatives in the old hometown. This is the feeling of going home. I was going to come back on Tomb Sweeping Day, but it was delayed for some time due to physical reasons."

Shuai Huamin sat down with everyone at a family home for a long time, and then insisted on walking to his grandfather's cemetery more than one kilometer away to pay homage. "Walking with your body's permission can express the wishes of our younger generation. It's hard to come back, and you should also use your feet to measure and feel the land of your hometown."

Shuai Huamin said that while the appearance of the countryside has been greatly improved, the enthusiasm of the villagers is the same as the previous two times. "So no matter how time goes by, local kinship will always be the traditional complex of the Chinese nation. We Chinese people pay attention to being cautious and pursuing the future, which is a kind of bond. This ancestral virtue and spirit need to be shared and carried forward by us."
