On May 11, www.taiwan.com.cn, according to the recent news from Fujian Maritime Safety Administration, since Fujian launched the first cross-strait joint training of international cruise ship crew project in June 2023, as of April 2024, a total of seven training courses have been held, and a total of 146 Taiwanese have received mainland crew certificates in Fujian.

It is reported that in recent years, more and more Taiwanese sailors have "landed" to look for new opportunities, and more than 200 people have participated in various kinds of crew training and applied for mainland crew certificates. Since the exploratory training for Taiwan compatriots to renew their yacht driving licenses in mainland China was carried out in April last year, so far, Fujian has completed the training, examination and certificate issuance for 59 Taiwan compatriots to renew their yacht driving licenses in mainland China.

In addition, the Management Committee of Xiamen Free Trade Zone, in conjunction with Xiamen Maritime Safety Administration and other relevant departments, restarted the training for Taiwanese sailors to apply for the replacement of mainland sailors' certificates, and opened a training class in Jimei University. A total of 18 Taiwanese sailors passed the training examination and were issued with mainland sailors' competency certificates.

Su Meixiang, director of the Modern Taiwan Research Institute of the Fujian Academy of Social Sciences, said that Fujian took the opportunity of issuing a variety of mainland crew certificates to fully implement the policies and measures of the mainland that benefit Taiwan and the people, which is conducive to improving the well-being and rights of Taiwan crew, and promoting the integration and development of cross-strait shipping enterprises and crew service industry.
