Yang Jiarong, a "post-90s" Taiwan Kaohsiung girl, is called "Yichun Daughter in law". She and her husband, Le Jieming, run a farmhouse in Shuikou Village, Mingyue Mountain Scenic Area, Yichun City. The husband and his in law cook, and Yang Jiarong is responsible for ordering food.
The relationship between Yang Jiarong and Shuikou Village began in 2017. The ancestral house of Le Jieming's family and several other villagers was rented and repaired into a home stay, named "Old House". Le Jieming was the store manager. Yang Jiarong, who worked in a home stay operation company in Hangzhou at that time, was assigned to be responsible for the management and promotion of the "old house".
Le Jieming said that the business of B&B is very hot. With the advantage of being close to Mingyue Mountain Hot Spring Scenic Spot, a national 5A scenic spot, the booking rate of holiday rooms is as high as 80%, and the daily turnover exceeds 30000 yuan.
The popularity of "Old House" has driven the development of local tourism and nourished this small village. "The village has paved asphalt roads, installed street lights and fences, and the surrounding villagers have opened farmhouses and homestays." Yang Jiarong witnessed the development and changes of the village. At present, Shuikou Village has developed 39 agritainments and 9 boutique homestays, receiving more than 1 million tourists annually, with an increase of nearly 30000 yuan per household.
After staying in Shuikou Village for 7 months, with the development and maturity of the "old house", it is time for Yang Jiarong to leave.
During the period of managing the homestay, Yang Jiarong has traveled to many cities, including Suzhou, the "Paradise on Earth", and Zhoushan, Zhejiang, the "City of Thousand Islands". However, she still has a deep attachment to Shuikou Village, and also keeps in touch with Le Jieming. From the handover of homestay work to the daily care and greetings, although separated by thousands of miles, the relationship between the two gradually warmed up.
"I never thought about love before. I always think that we are too far away and have great cultural differences," said Yang Jiarong. "But he made me believe that we can overcome these obstacles together."
In October 2018, the couple got married with a certificate, and the wedding was held in Shuikou Village. Yang Jiarong's relatives and friends from Taiwan also came to Mingyue Mountain to witness their happy moment.
After marriage, Le Jieming quit his job in the "old house", and the young couple took over the "Lehehe" farm fun run by their parents in the village. Yang Jiarong did as the Romans did when she was in Rome. She could switch her language freely, inherited the spicy eating gene of her grandfather in Sichuan, and her eating habits were seamlessly linked. Her small days became more prosperous, which also made her find her own "little lucky": picking tea in spring, peeling green beans in summer, picking oranges in autumn, and digging bamboo shoots in winter.
"The four seasons are the same in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, but you can feel the changes of each season here," she said.
Yang Jiarong is a "coffee lover", so Le Jieming took her to Jingdezhen to make a coffee cup; In the cold winter, Yang Jiarong will cook a pot of hot Taiwan seasonal food, Angelica Duck. "Some spices can't be found, but they are still the taste in memory"; During the Spring Festival, the whole family got together to play Ma Ci, "the local Ma Ci is fried and sprinkled with sugar, while Taiwan is roasted and dipped with soybean powder, all of which are equally sweet"
A family on both sides of the Taiwan Straits and a family in Shanyue. In 2014, Jiangxi Mingyue Mountain and Taiwan Ali Mountain formed a "sister mountain of friendship". In 2022, "Happy" farmhouse music was awarded the title of "Taiwan owned home of Taiwan businessmen" by the Taiwan Merchants Association of Yichun City, attracting many Taiwanese to come to the village for leisure and sightseeing. Taiwanese businessmen from surrounding provinces and visiting groups from Taiwan will also come to Jiangxi to visit this little fellow villager on Mingyue Mountain.
