The 2024 Cross Strait International Standard Dance Friendship Competition was successfully held in Shanghai

April 23, www.taiwan.cn. On April 21, the 2024 Cross Strait International Standard Dance Friendship Competition was grandly held in Shangri La Hotel, Shanghai.

The theme of this activity is "Dancing Together across the Taiwan Straits, Both Sides Being Together". Zhong Xiaomin, Director of the Taiwan Affairs Office of Shanghai Municipality, Wang Lixin, Deputy Director of the Taiwan Affairs Office of Shanghai Municipality and First Level Inspector, Li Zhenghong, President of the All China Federation of Taiwan Enterprises, Zhang Jianzhen, President of the Shanghai Association for Taiwan Affairs, Zhang Xiuwan, Chief Supervisor, Li Wei, Director of the Group Office at the Cross Strait Entrepreneurs Summit, Liu Chunmei, Director of the Taiwan Affairs Office of Pudong New Area and other guests, as well as relevant cadres of the All China Federation of Taiwan Enterprises and the Shanghai Association for Taiwan Affairs, entrepreneurs from both sides of the Taiwan Strait More than 400 international standard dance enthusiasts gathered together for the grand event.

At the event, Director Zhong Xiaomin, on behalf of the Shanghai Municipal Taiwan Affairs Office, expressed sincere congratulations on the success of the 2024 Cross Strait International Standard Dance Friendship Competition. She said that the event was not only a surprise but also a touch. First, the efficient organization of the event. With the joint efforts of the Shanghai Association for Taiwan Affairs and the National Taiwan Enterprise Confederation and other relevant units, the cross-strait teams have worked together and made fruitful and positive achievements in the preparation of the event for about half a year. The second is the concerted efforts of the players on both sides of the Taiwan Straits. Everyone on the field has the same spirit and tacit understanding. The dance shows the charm of Chinese culture and the beauty of harmony on both sides of the Taiwan Straits. It also reflects the kinship between the two sides of the Taiwan Straits that blood is thicker than water. The third is the vitality shown in the event. This event has attracted many dance lovers from both sides of the Taiwan Straits. Their positive and optimistic attitude is admirable. This kind of sports spirit and life tension is worth learning. I believe that compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Straits can move forward hand in hand and work together. It is possible for all, and cross-strait relations will also usher in a better tomorrow.

President Li Zhenghong said that the smooth holding of this event not only established the correct orientation of cross Strait relations, but also fully demonstrated that exchanges and cooperation have always been the mainstream public opinion of both sides. Only by continuously advancing the pace of interaction in cross Straits relations can we continuously enhance the kinship and well-being of compatriots on both sides of the Straits and promote the peaceful development of cross Straits relations. The All China Federation of Taiwan Enterprises will continue to play the role of a bridge and link, and make new and greater contributions to promoting economic and cultural exchanges and cooperation between the two sides of the Taiwan Straits, promoting the integration and development of various fields across the Taiwan Straits, and promoting the spiritual cooperation of compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Straits.

President Zhang Jianzhen thanked leaders at all levels, Taiwanese businessmen and relevant units for their strong support for the event, especially Ms. Zhang Xiuwan, the initiator of the event, and Shanghai Yuanzu Public Welfare Foundation for their enthusiastic contributions to the event. She said that compatriots on both sides of the Straits were originally a family. She hoped that this cross-strait international standard dance fraternity contest could further deepen cross-strait folk exchanges, promote the deep integration of cross-strait culture, art, humanities, sports and other fields, and jointly realize the beautiful vision of "cross-strait family, cross-strait solidarity, and prosperity together", and strive for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation!

Zhang Xiuwan, the chief supervisor of the Shanghai Association for Taiwan Affairs and the initiator of the event, shared the origin of cross-strait international standard dance exchanges and his own learning experience and experience. She said that this activity originated from an exchange discussion during the 2023 Shanghai Taipei City Forum, and it was the common expectations of international standard dance lovers across the Straits that contributed to this warm and happy exchange event. It is hoped that the activity will create an opportunity for communication and leisure and health for the majority of Taiwan businessmen in Shanghai while doing business. It is also expected that the cross-strait international standard dance fraternity competition will continue and be held frequently, so as to build a bridge for cross-strait exchanges.

On the day of the competition, more than 250 international standard dance lovers from both sides of the Taiwan Straits competed on the same stage, showing their charming dance moves. On the field, the contestants devoted themselves to the magnificent and elegant waltz, vigorous and powerful tango, passionate and unrestrained cha cha dance, tender and beautiful rumba dance, cheerful and jumping cowboy dance, and other dances of different styles took turns.

The event invited 24 cross-strait professional standard dancers and senior judges to form a jury to provide a fair, just and open competition environment for the contestants with professional level and professional attitude. The competition throughout the day was very hot. The audience and guests cheered and cheered one after another. The exquisite dance performances created a very artistic and ornamental visual feast.

It is reported that this event tried to innovate in the competition system. The event was divided into four groups: entrepreneur group, parent-child group, teacher and student group, and music age group. It attracted international standard dance lovers of different ages on both sides of the Taiwan Straits to participate. The age range of contestants ranged from 8 to 90 years old, fully demonstrating the endless charm of international standard dance, It also added more wonderful and hot vitality to the weekend just past.
