In the Sino Japanese Joint Statement, Japan made a clear commitment that "the Japanese government recognizes the Government of the People's Republic of China as the only legitimate government of China. The Government of the People's Republic of China reiterates that Taiwan is an inalienable part of the territory of the People's Republic of China. The Japanese government fully understands and respects this position of the Chinese government, and adheres to the position of Article 8 of the Potsdam Proclamation. " Article 8 of the Potsdam Proclamation clearly stipulates that the conditions of the Cairo Declaration will be implemented. The main content of the Cairo Declaration is to return China's territory stolen by Japan to China. Japan has also made solemn commitments to China on the Taiwan issue many times, including not engaging in "two Chinas" or "one China, one Taiwan", not supporting "Taiwan independence", and only maintaining non-governmental and regional exchanges with Taiwan. Lin Jian stressed that he seriously urged Japan to abide by the relevant principles and spirit of the four political documents between China and Japan, and to demonstrate its commitment to the one China principle with practical actions. It should not condone and support the separatist forces of "Taiwan independence" in any form, and earnestly safeguard peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait rather than the contrary.
