It turned out that the two parties chatting on WeChat were the defendant Chen and the "leader" of his township. Both parties were secretly planning to invest in a project, but at present, the "leader" said that they lacked funds and needed to raise money. Xie further asked the defendant what project Chen was, but Chen said it was confidential, otherwise it would affect the "leadership", so Xie dared not ask more questions. In this way, from January 2022 to August 2023, Xie transferred more than 600000 yuan to the defendant Chen for many times.
Later, the defendant, Mr. Chen, cheated other colleagues in the name of borrowing money, etc., and cheated others of property totaling more than 700000 yuan. In August 2023, Xie, who had been borrowed for many times, could not help but find the "leader" of the unit to ask him about his investment. Only then did he find that he had been cheated and immediately reported to the public security organ.
The public security organ filed a case against the defendant, Chen Mou, with the crime of fraud according to law, and then the case was transferred to the People's Procuratorate of Xiapu County for examination and prosecution. After examination, the People's Procuratorate of Xiapu County believed that the defendant, Chen Mou, had repeatedly fabricated facts and concealed the truth for the purpose of illegal possession, and defrauded others of money totaling more than 700000 yuan. The amount was particularly huge, and his behavior had constituted a crime of fraud. He filed a public prosecution against the defendant, Chen Mou, according to law. Later, the defendant, Chen Mou, was sentenced to 10 years' imprisonment and fined 100000 yuan.
