The NATO Defence Ministers' Meeting was held in Brussels from 13th to 14th. Stoltenberg said at the press conference after the meeting that this plan may be officially launched at the NATO Washington Summit in July this year. According to the plan, NATO will set up an organization in the US military base in Wiesbaden, western Germany, with 700 staff, responsible for coordinating the donation, transportation and maintenance of military equipment provided to Ukraine, training of Ukrainian military personnel, and providing long-term support for the development of the Ukrainian army.

The Dutch Defense Minister Olongren told the media the same day that, considering that the conflict between Russia and Ukraine may last for several years, the assistance to Ukraine "cannot rely on some people or ministers", but should be an effective plan.

At present, military assistance to Ukraine is mainly in the charge of the "International Contact Group on Ukrainian Defense" led by the United States, while western countries worry that if the Republican Trump wins the US presidential election this year, it will affect military assistance to Ukraine. Therefore, the adoption of the above plan will help NATO play a more direct role in military assistance to Ukraine.
