Xu Jianping, Director of the Regional Opening up Department of the National Development and Reform Commission, introduced at the press conference that China and African countries have achieved great cooperation results in building the "Belt and Road" in the past 11 years, and the rules and standards of "soft connectivity" have reached a new level. In terms of the docking of economic and trade rules, as of the end of June this year, China has implemented zero tariffs on 98% of tariff products originating in 27 African least developed countries, signed bilateral agreements on investment promotion and protection with 34 African countries, and signed agreements on the avoidance of double taxation with 21 African countries. Supported and guaranteed by the China Africa economic and trade rule of "soft connectivity", China Africa trade volume will reach 282.1 billion US dollars in 2023, breaking the historical peak for the second consecutive year; By the end of 2023, China's stock of direct investment in Africa has exceeded 40 billion US dollars; In 2024, China Africa trade and investment will continue to maintain a steady development trend, fully demonstrating the strong vitality and resilience of China Africa economic and trade cooperation. In terms of mutual recognition of standards, by the end of June this year, China had signed eight standardization cooperation documents with five African countries, including Ethiopia, Sudan, Morocco, Niger, Benin, and the African Electrotechnical Standardization Commission, realizing mutual recognition and integrated development of standards in key areas such as agriculture, energy, minerals, transportation, and climate change. In terms of intellectual property cooperation, as of the end of June this year, China has established cooperation mechanisms with nine African national intellectual property authorities and two African regional intellectual property organizations, signed a total of 25 bilateral cooperation documents, and China Africa cooperation in the field of intellectual property continues to deepen.
