[Ammonia valve knowledge] What are the liquid ammonia valves?
Liquid ammonia, also known as anhydrous ammonia, is a colorless liquid with a strong pungent smell. Ammonia is an important chemical raw material and refrigeration raw material. To facilitate transportation and storage, gaseous ammonia is usually pressurized or cooled to obtain liquid ammonia. Liquid ammonia is easily soluble in water and forms ammonium ion NH4+and hydroxide ion OH - after dissolving in water. The solution is alkaline. Liquid ammonia is mostly stored in pressure cylinders or steel tanks, and cannot coexist with acetaldehyde, acrolein, boron and other substances. Liquid ammonia is widely used in industry, which is corrosive and volatile, so its chemical accident rate is high.

What is the difference between liquid ammonia valve and other common valves?
As liquid ammonia is a strong pungent odor/toxic medium, the special valve for liquid ammonia is strictly constructed in the valve body, packing seal and valve disc seal. The valve body must be free of sand holes and bubble holes to prevent the leakage of the valve body caused by the erosion of the medium in the application process. The packing seal shall be made of PTFE at normal temperature and graphite at high temperature with self loaded spring. The internal valve rod shall be provided with reverse sealing design to prevent the damage of high pressure medium to the packing and leakage during the switch action. The medium and low pressure valve disc can be sealed with soft seal, and the high pressure valve disc can be sealed with hard seal. The application temperature is also particular. Soft seal can be selected at - 40 ℃~120 ℃, while hard seal material is considered when the temperature of the supporting reactor exceeds+120 ℃.
