"Hello, is it Xiyang Forest Farm? I found a small roe deer on the mountain." On May 16, the forest administration department of Xiyang Forest Farm in Yongji County received a call for help. A mountain runner found a young roe deer during the mountain run, and asked the staff of the forest farm to deal with it.
After receiving the phone call, the staff of the forest farm rushed to the accident site and took the baby roe deer from the mountain runner. According to this person, he accidentally found this baby roe deer when he was running in the mountain. The birth time should not be long by visual inspection, and the baby roe deer would not run away when they saw him. He waited nearby for a long time, but did not see any adult roe deer. He was worried that if he left the young roe deer alone, they would be in danger, so he contacted the forest farm.
The staff of the forest farm confirmed that the baby roe deer was born about a month ago and was in good health. I don't know why it was separated from the mother roe deer. Because it is too young to survive in the independent wild, the staff then sent the young roe deer to the municipal wildlife rescue station for feeding, and then released it to the mountain forest after it has the ability to survive in the independent wild.
It is understood that roe deer is a small and medium-sized deer with a timid disposition. They live in dense forests during the day and feed on grass, mushrooms and berries. Young roe deer are usually born in March to June, with one to two offspring per birth. The roe deer is a national second-class protected animal, and has been listed in China's List of Terrestrial Wild Animals under National Protection that are Beneficial or of Important Economic and Scientific Research Value.
