Among them, the import and export in May was 3.71 trillion yuan, 0.6 percentage points higher than that in April to 8.6%.
From the fluctuation of exports in the first quarter to the monthly improvement since April and May, China's foreign trade imports and exports have gone through a steady "rebound curve".
The insiders said that the continuous consolidation of the positive momentum of foreign trade is closely related to the continuous recovery of China's economic operation. Driven by the good export momentum of high-end, intelligent and green products and the steady expansion of import scale, the monthly import and export growth rate was further accelerated.
Looking at the "rebound curve", China's export commodity structure has been continuously optimized. According to customs data, in the first five months of this year, electromechanical products with high technology and added value accounted for nearly 60% of exports. Among them, the export of ships, electric vehicles and household appliances increased by 100.1%, 26.3% and 17.8% respectively.

According to the statistics of Xiamen Customs, Fujian exported 5.54 billion yuan of ships from January to May, up 219.8% year on year. Among them, the export to countries jointly building the "Belt and Road" was 5.25 billion yuan, up 487.2% year on year, accounting for 94.8% of Fujian's total export value of ships in the same period. Among them, bulk carriers and container ships are the "flagship products" exported by Fujian ships. From January to May, they exported 3.01 billion yuan and 1.71 billion yuan respectively, up 6.8 times and 10 times respectively year on year, accounting for 85.2% of the total export value of Fujian ships in the same period.
From traditional labor-intensive products and agricultural products to the "new three kinds", Hubei's foreign trade structure has been constantly optimized. According to the statistics of Wuhan Customs, Hubei's total import and export value in the first five months of this year was 262.5 billion yuan, up 7.6% year on year. Among them, the export was 179.46 billion yuan, up 6.1%; Imports reached 83.04 billion yuan, up 10.8%. Among them, the export of "new three kinds" (new energy vehicles, lithium batteries, photovoltaic) products was 8.41 billion yuan, an increase of more than 80%.

On June 2, the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (RCEP) came into full force for one year for 15 signatories. Over the past year, the role of RCEP in reducing regional international trade costs has become increasingly prominent.
"In the first five months of this year, our company exported 2 million worth of electric vehicle parts to Indonesia. By virtue of the RCEP certificate of origin issued by the customs, these goods can enjoy 5 percentage points more tariff concessions than the preferential tax rates under the China ASEAN Free Trade Agreement when they are imported for customs clearance." The enterprise's access to a broader market has benefited from China's continued initiative to connect with high standards of international economic and trade rules in recent years. According to the recent survey conducted by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, 81.6% of foreign trade enterprises predicted that their exports would be better or flat in the first half of the year, and 65.1% of the interviewed enterprises' new orders would increase or be flat compared with the first quarter.
"In specific analysis, first, the improvement of foreign demand drives the acceleration of exports. The World Trade Organization, the International Monetary Fund and other organizations predict that the prospects of global economic growth will improve in 2024. Second, the growth of foreign trade will be supported by advantageous products. The export of electromechanical products such as integrated circuits, automobiles and ships will maintain a strong growth. Third, new quality productivity will boost the development of foreign trade enterprises. The technology and business model innovation of shipbuilding, intelligent manufacturing and other enterprises has accelerated, and new progress has been made in product design and manufacturing quality improvement. Nearly 30% of the interviewed enterprises feel that the development of new quality productivity has added new momentum to exports. " Zhao Ping said.
