Analyst agency: In the first quarter of 2021, global smartphone shipments will rise by nearly 50% year on year

Digitimes Research estimates that by the first quarter of 2021, Apple's iPhone shipments are expected to exceed 60 million, while the last quarter (the fourth quarter of 2020) will exceed 90 million.

Apple may become the biggest winner in the mobile phone industry in the six months to March 31, 2021, with a total shipment of more than 150 million units, an increase of 38% over the same period last year.

Samsung Electronics will rank the second, and its shipments will decline slightly in six months. In the fourth quarter of 2020 and the first quarter of 2021, there will be about 60-65 million units respectively.

Xiaomi will rank third, with a total shipment of 90 million units in six months, an increase of more than 80% over the same period last year.

In terms of 5G mobile phones. Digitimes Research estimates that by 2021, the global mobile phone shipments supporting 5G will exceed 600 million, compared with 280 million a year ago.

Huawei, Apple and Samsung are the top three 5G mobile phone suppliers in 2020, accounting for more than 70% of the global 5G mobile phone shipments.

Digitimes Research also raised the annual growth rate of global smartphone shipments to 10-13% in 2021, with a total of more than 1.4 billion smartphones.
