Expertise in "fishing", turning green leaves into "golden leaves"

Zhang Yanhui (right) is checking the tea making situation.

Starting from Kunming, Yunnan, 400km to the south, in the high mountains of Ailao Mountains, along the Yuan Lu Highway, Lvchun County, which lies across the narrow mountain top, is seen. Spring is the busiest season in Lvchun County. At the tea garden of Bachi Mountain, 10 kilometers east of the county seat, tea farmers turned over their fingers, pinched and lifted them, and put new tea buds into the tea basket. In the tea factory located halfway up the mountain, Zhang Yanhui, the founder of Yunnan Ailaoshan Tea Co., Ltd., nervously and orderly commanded the workers to wither, twist, and turn red...... Bursts of tea fragrance were refreshing.

As the origin of the famous tea "Mayu Tea" in Yunnan, Luchun County has identified the tea industry as the leading industry of "one county, one industry", focusing on development. In 2023, the tea planting area of the whole county will be 252500 mu, the output will be 25700 tons, and the output value will be 525 million yuan. Tea Mountain has become a "green bank" for Lvchun people, and also a stage for many young people to start businesses and become rich and realize their dreams. More and more "tea experts" are active in the tea field, contributing to the upgrading of the tea industry in Lvchun County.

"Craftsman" of ingenious tea making

Twenty one years ago, Zhang Yanhui was a tea "layman". In 2003, Yunnan Province promoted the improvement of quality and efficiency in the tea industry and polished the "cloud tea" brand. Zhang Yanhui, who was originally engaged in the pharmaceutical industry, began to set foot in the tea industry due to job transfer. "A good tea requires not only professional tea planting knowledge, exquisite tea making technology, but also profound cultural accumulation." For Zhang Yanhui, from "cloud medicine" to "cloud tea", although there is only a word difference, it is a cross industry and cross specialty challenge.

He was good at learning and studying. He plunged into the tea factory, planting, picking, cleaning, rolling... and soon mastered the skills. However, Zhang Yanhui is not satisfied with these "bulk knowledge". He has planned systematic courses on tea art, tea making and tea evaluation for himself in combination with the national standard vocational system. This course has lasted for 20 years. Every year, we continue to study and participate in various training courses and events. Through continuous learning and growth, Zhang Yanhui was rated as a national first-class tea art technician, a national first-class tea evaluation technician, a national second-class tea making technician, and the second batch of national "national tea figures and tea making experts".

Luchun County has abundant rainfall, mild climate and fertile soil, which is suitable for the growth of tea trees. However, in the past, due to extensive management, disordered varieties, backward tea making technology and other factors, Lvchun tea was at the bottom of the tea production chain in Yunnan for a long time. Zhang Yanhui insists on applying what he has learned and achieving what he has achieved. In Lvchun, he used his rich experience and skills to innovate and create efficiency in the tea industry. He made technical innovations in the production process, production tools and production process of six major teas in combination with actual conditions, and improved the quality of tea by means of variety grafting and soil improvement.

In addition, Zhang Yanhui has carried out technical cooperation with the Functional Agriculture Center of the Industrial Technology Research Institute of Chongqing University to plant organic tea in Bachi Mountain, which can not only degrade the pesticide residues of tea and block harmful heavy metals, but also improve the content of tea polyphenols, catechins, theanine and other nutrients in tea. The success of this technology has injected strong momentum into the development of the green spring tea industry.

In order to cultivate more tea making "craftsmen", Luchun County has invited experts from inside and outside the province, such as the Tea Research Institute of the Provincial Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Changninghong Group, Ocean University of China, and other experts as distinguished experts to set up the Luchun Tea Science and Technology Academy. Through the "1+N" mentoring system, it has established offline demonstration points and online teaching platforms for party members and experts, We will conscientiously organize team based online teaching and remote services to help the tea garden cultivate in spring, and jointly cultivate professional and skilled planting and breeding talents in the local tea industry.

Industrial development "fisherman"

Luchun County has made great efforts to make tea a "leaf for getting rich" and help rural revitalization. The development of the tea industry should be supported by talents. Since 2023, Lvchun County has seized the opportunity to help the key counties in the national rural revitalization, relying on the advantages of 252500 mu tea garden resources in the county, and focused on building a regional talent frontier highland that gathers talents with production and promotes production with talents.

Luchun County has integrated more than 20 high-level experts and talents inside and outside the province, formed a science and technology mission, and carried out assistance work around industrial technology guidance services, introduction and promotion of new varieties and technologies, technical bottlenecks, local talent training and development, agricultural industry function expansion and other aspects by adopting "one-to-one", "one to many", "master+apprentice" and other ways.

Zhang Yanhui has also become one of the experts of the science and technology mission, shouldering the important task of promoting the deep integration of talent chain, innovation chain and industry chain in the tea industry. "From the perspective of the market, the development of the Lvchun tea industry, quality improvement is the key, and ultimately talent training." Looking back on his own growth path, Zhang Yanhui deeply recognized the importance of talent, and was willing to set an example to encourage more young people to join the tea industry.

In the first training class of the "Leading Goose" talent training program for rural revitalization in Daxing Town, Lvchun County, personnel with experience in tea planting, processing and sales from various villages and communities and individual tea dealers gathered together. Zhang Yanhui, as the lecturer, systematically taught tea art theory, tea evaluation theory, and conducted on-site practical training, At the same time, they also had in-depth exchanges with students on tea culture.

It is reported that Lvchun County has comprehensively strengthened the closed loop training of the whole industrial chain of tea industry culture, planting, breeding, processing, tea art, evaluation and marketing. It has targeted the county's tea enterprises, tea farmers, village cadres to carry out organic certification training, high fragrant white tea rich in tea polysaccharides, tea processing and quality identification, autumn and winter tea garden management and other technical training, with a total of 2396 person times in 44 sessions.

In order to strengthen the integration of production and talent, Luchun County has formulated and issued the "Luchun Revitalization" talent incentive plan to praise local talents in various industries, among which top local talents include the heads of three tea companies. "We hope to encourage talents through policies, realize the integration of production and talent, strengthen the talent incentive mechanism, strengthen the cultivation and training of county tea talents, and cultivate a batch of outstanding local tea professional and technical talents," said the relevant person in charge of Lvchun County Agriculture and Rural Affairs Bureau.

"Leader" of rural revitalization

In 2021, Luchun County will formulate and implement the three-year action plan of plateau featured modern agriculture, focusing on organic brand building and leading cultivation, clarify the development direction and goal of the tea industry, and promote the gradual formation of the organic tea garden demonstration base.

It is understood that because of its unique geographical environment, Lvchun has rich tea planting resources. The quality of Yunnan Daye tea Mayu subspecies is excellent, and most tea gardens are distributed in the ecologically superior mountainous and semi mountainous areas. It is suitable for the development of pollution-free tea, green food tea, organic tea and other high-quality products. The tea industry in the whole county has great development potential and obvious driving benefits. Zhang Yanhui believes that the green spring tea industry has a good foundation for development. It should promote scientific planting and management, encourage the construction of large-scale, standardized, ecological and organic tea gardens, and promote rural revitalization and farmers' income.

In Bachi Mountain, Zhang Yanhui has built a 500 mu county-level demonstration organic tea garden, and set up a farmers' professional cooperative. The cooperative farmers' tea garden is about 1500 mu. At the same time, he also purchased advanced production equipment suitable for producing green spring tea, which greatly improved production efficiency and tea quality. As a result, Yunnan Ailaoshan Tea Co., Ltd. has become an outstanding backbone enterprise in green spring tea culture promotion, technical innovation and production leadership. Through the "demonstration base+cooperatives+farmers+enterprises", Zhang Yanhui has built a standardized and large-scale operation model of the tea industry and become the "leader" of rural revitalization in Lvchun County.

Through the introduction of leading enterprises, the county tea association, tea enterprises, family farms and large growers are guided to integrate resources and develop together, and tea has become the "golden leaf" of Lvchun. At present, there are 34100 tea growers in Lvchun County, 153500 people, accounting for 92% of the local rural population. A benefit connection mechanism of "company+cooperative+base+tea farmers" has been established, and 120 professional tea farmers' cooperatives have been established, involving 82000 mu of tea gardens, driving 11100 tea farmers, 49800 people.
