Xinhua News Agency, Macao, March 18 (Reporter Liu Gang and Li Hanfang) The ceremony for the closing of the fourth cross sea bridge connecting Macao and Taipa was held on the 18th, and the construction of the project entered the final stage.
The fourth sea crossing bridge of Macao Taipa, which is constructed by the China Civil Engineering Corporation, China Railway Construction Bridge Bureau and Macao Malaysian Construction Joint Venture, is located on the east side of the Friendship Bridge, across the outer port channel and Macao waterway, connecting Macao's three important ports of sea, land and air, and is a key node in building Macao's urban transportation system.
This is also the first two-way eight lane sea crossing bridge in Macao. The main line is 3.085km long and the main span is 280m. The main structure of the bridge is made of high-performance bridge beam steel. The overall structure is compact, the way of force transmission is short, the structural efficiency is high, the bridge is light, and the design service life of the structure is 100 years.
The bridge is not only an important traffic connection between the port artificial island of the Hong Kong Zhuhai Macao Bridge, New Town Reclamation Area A and Taipa, but also a main traffic artery for residents in New Town Reclamation Area A. After the bridge is opened to traffic, it can provide more transportation options for residents to travel, effectively share the traffic pressure of the existing bridge, and contribute to the comprehensive and sustainable development of the city.
By setting up wind barriers on both sides of the main line lane, the bridge can ensure the traffic safety of the main line during the suspension of No. 8 balloon, and achieve uninterrupted traffic. The bridge is also laid with water, electricity, gas, communication and other public facilities pipelines, so as to meet the living and development needs of residents in Area A of the new town reclamation.
Lin Weihao, Director of the Public Construction Bureau of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government, said in his speech at the ceremony that since the official commencement of the project on March 26, 2020, the project has overcome many difficulties and successfully completed the closure of the whole bridge. All participating units will stick to their posts, complete all work with great responsibility, and make every effort to ensure the early completion of the Fourth Bridge Project.
