Hong Kong Housewares Exhibition is the largest household goods exhibition in Asia, sponsored by the Hong Kong Trade and Development Council. The Hong Kong Household Products Exhibition is held once a year, and will be the 34th in 2019. The exhibition attracts tens of thousands of visitors every year. It is an ideal platform for exhibitors to talk with buyers in the industry and an effective channel for operators to promote products to consumers.
On April 24, 2019, the 33rd Hong Kong Household Goods Exhibition and the 8th Hong Kong International Home Textiles Exhibition, hosted by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), attracted more than 48000 buyers from 111 countries and regions to visit and purchase in the four-day exhibition period, a slight increase of about 2% over last year. The number of buyers in mature markets such as Australia, South Korea, Japan and emerging markets including Brazil, Russia, Malaysia and the Philippines increased by percentage.
During the exhibition, the conference specially entrusted an independent investigation organization to visit more than 1000 buyers and exhibitors to learn about the latest situation of the home product market. The survey results show that the industry is cautiously optimistic about the prospects of the home product market this year. 36% of the respondents expect the overall sales of products to increase this year, and 51% are expected to be flat. In addition, 40% of respondents said that the main challenges faced in 2017 were rising operating costs and fluctuations in raw material prices. However, Hong Kong's competitiveness as a trading platform has not diminished, and more than half of buyers expect to purchase more products through Hong Kong. They believe that the advantages of Hong Kong products are high quality and compliance with national safety regulations/standards. At the same time, more than 60% of the exhibitors interviewed expect that the volume of goods sold through Hong Kong will increase this year, up 6 percentage points year on year.
In addition, respondents were asked about their views on the growth prospects of various markets. Among traditional markets, Hong Kong ranked among the three regions with ideal growth prospects. Other markets include North America and Western Europe; The mainland of China and ASEAN countries are emerging markets with the best growth prospects.
In recent years, due to the good effect of the exhibition, the booth is in short supply. With the completion of the renovation project of the atrium of the exhibition hall of the Hong Kong International Convention and Exhibition Center, the number and scale of booths in the Hong Kong International Convention and Exhibition Center will increase to a certain extent. In order to improve the competitiveness of the exhibition, TDC will re plan the exhibition area setting and booth of the exhibition, including fashionable living rooms, health care and personal care, kitchen and kitchen gadgets, tableware and bar accessories, outdoor leisure products, home color products, pet world, etc. The distinctive features and beautiful decoration of each exhibition area have left a deep impression on both exhibitors and buyers, providing them with a high-quality negotiation platform.
