At 9:45 a.m. on May 9, 2024, Shanghai First Intermediate People's Court opened the first trial of the case of the defendant Yan Jun's bribery in public.
The First Branch of the Shanghai Municipal People's Procuratorate sent personnel to support the public prosecution, and the defendant Yan Jun and his defenders attended the proceedings.
The public prosecution alleges that from 2009 to 2023, the defendant Yan Jun successively took advantage of his position as the assistant to the president, vice president, deputy secretary of the party committee, president and other positions of Shanghai International Port (Group) Co., Ltd. to provide assistance and seek benefits for relevant individuals in airline operation, business undertaking, company listing, cost settlement and other matters, Illegally received property from the above personnel, amounting to more than 36.01 million yuan.
The public prosecution organ believed that the defendant Yan Jun, as a state functionary, took advantage of his position to provide help and seek benefits for others' business activities, illegally accepted money and property given by others, and the amount was especially huge, so he should be investigated for criminal responsibility as a crime of accepting bribes. The defendant, Yan Jun, had no objection to the facts and charges charged in the prosecution, and said he was guilty and repentant. The defenders mainly expressed their opinions on the circumstances of sentencing.
The public attended the trial, and the collegial panel will pronounce a judgment on the case according to law after deliberation.
