The meeting was chaired by Li Pengde, member of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC National Committee and deputy director of the National Bureau of Surveying, Mapping and Geographic Information.

The "China National Human Geography" series is organized and implemented by China Map Publishing Group. With the orientation of "inheriting history and culture, demonstrating geographical conditions, publicizing development achievements, and depicting city blueprints", the series authoritatively, stereoscopically, and in detail show the historical context, geographical conditions, human resources, and economic and social development achievements of Chinese cities. It is an important window and platform for Chinese cities to publicize and "go global". At present, the series has been publicized, promoted and displayed in the United States, Britain, Canada, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Australia and other countries, and has been put on the shelves of Amazon China Bookstore. During the "13th Five Year Plan" period, the series plans to publish 100 city sub volumes in batches. The first seven city sub volumes have been published in 2016, 12 city sub volumes will be published in the near future, and 21 city sub volumes have started docking. It is reported that China Map Publishing Group is actively promoting the digital publishing of books in accordance with the requirements of "Internet+" and media integration development while fully promoting the city's paper-based publishing in separate volumes. At present, it has launched the construction of China National Human Geography Content Resources Database, the sharing service platform of book content resources and the all media publishing platform.

Chen Ping, the director of the editorial department of the series and the deputy general manager of China Map Publishing Group, reported to the editorial board from five aspects: the introduction of the series, the progress of the series, the impact of the series, the work plan and the direction of efforts. The consultants, editorial board members and guests present at the meeting put forward opinions and suggestions on the content system, compilation and publication, brand building, publicity and promotion of the series.

Liu Binjie said in his speech that the series, as a major publishing project in the national "13th Five Year Plan" key publications publishing plan, has important publishing value and will have a far-reaching impact not only at home but also internationally. For the next publishing and distribution of the series, he put forward three suggestions: first, adhere to the publishing purpose, adhere to the positioning of the series of books in inheriting history and culture, demonstrating geographical conditions, promoting development achievements, and depicting the urban blueprint. The second is to ensure the quality of editing, so as to strengthen scientificity, focus on reality, improve readability and expand internationality. The third is to give full play to the functions of the series, to achieve multi format publishing, multi-channel distribution, multi-functional use, and diversified promotion.

As the director of the series editorial board, Kureshi Mehesuti raised four hopes and requirements for the series work: first, we should firmly establish the correct publishing orientation to ensure the political nature and security of the series content; Second, make full use of the results of the general survey of geographical conditions to ensure the accuracy, scientificity and readability of the contents of the series; Third, we should focus on serving the implementation of major national strategies such as the "Belt and Road" construction, the coordinated development of Beijing Tianjin Hebei, and the construction of the Yangtze River Economic Belt. We should focus on the positioning and characteristics of the series, further close cooperation with the media, expand publicity channels, and use Internet thinking to do a good job in the publicity and promotion of the series; Fourth, we should give full play to the role of the editorial board as a think tank and an "exobrain", and bring the wisdom and experience of the editorial board consultants and editorial board members into the publication of the series. He hoped that the editorial department of the series would further innovate the working system and mechanism, actively and orderly promote the compilation and publication of the series in accordance with the requirements of "publishing a batch, starting a batch, and reserving a batch".

Zhang Fuhai said that the publication of the series has provided materials for telling Chinese stories and promoting the rich and colorful Chinese culture, and has provided a reassuring publicity sample for the China Foreign Language and Culture Bureau. CFLAC will promote the series of books as key books to international channels through its China.com, 37 foreign publicity periodicals, Amazon China Bookstore of China International Book Trade Group Corporation, and 100 overseas Chinese bookstores.

Wang Baomin, Executive Director of the Editorial Committee of the series and Chairman of China Map Publishing Group, said that the compilation of the series was highly valued and strongly supported by the municipal committees and governments all over the country. The series is not only a city card for external publicity, but also an exquisite teaching material to encourage people to love their hometown and build their hometown, as well as an exchange platform to expand urban influence and promote the city's "going global". We will further work to improve the quality of the series, expand the influence of the city, and help urban development, gather more resources for urban construction, and help build more "world famous cities".

More than 50 people attended the meeting, including Li Yixin, Deputy Director of the Department of Publication Management of the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television, Wang Jiayao, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, series consultants and editorial board members, and experts, scholars and guests from the fields of publicity, news, publishing, culture, environmental protection, construction, planning, land, surveying and mapping, and universities.
