The National Key Laboratory of Cryptography Science and Technology is under the charge of the State Cryptography Administration and approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology in November 2022.

Facing the forefront of the development of international cryptography discipline and the needs of national cyberspace security strategy, the laboratory carries out cutting-edge, forward-looking and strategic research around the basic theory of cryptography, the foundation of cryptography engineering technology, and the method of cryptography evaluation. The laboratory aims to build itself into a national highland of password technology innovation, a high-end platform for password academic exchange and a key base for password talent training. Under the guidance of the laboratory academic committee, it has carried out and undertaken a number of basic and cutting-edge scientific research projects, including the National Key Basic Research Program (973 Program) and the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) key projects, It has undertaken more than 10 national, provincial and ministerial major scientific research projects to meet the needs of the national cyberspace security strategy. At present, the laboratory has more than 100 fixed and employed personnel, of which more than 60% have senior professional titles.
