Introduction to School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Beijing University of Chemical Technology:
The School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering of Beijing University of Chemical Technology is the predecessor of the Department of Machinery, which was established when Beijing University of Chemical Technology was founded in 1958. At first, it had three majors: chemical machinery and equipment, synthetic material processing machinery, chemical process automation and instrumentation. In 1996, it was renamed the School of Mechanical Engineering, and in March 2000, it was renamed the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering.
The college now has a four department teaching unit: the basic department, and the department of decoration, machinery, safety, design, involving engineering and art. There are seven scientific research institutions: diagnosis and self-healing engineering research center, rubber and plastic machinery research institute, chemical equipment design research institute, chemical equipment technology engineering center, computer aided mechanical engineering research center, special fluid equipment technology development center, plastic machinery and plastic engineering research institute.
The college now has a doctoral program and a postdoctoral mobile station in the first level discipline of "power engineering and engineering thermophysics", and six master programs in the second level discipline, among which chemical process machinery is a national key discipline, mechanical design and theory is a key discipline in Beijing, and safety engineering is a key interdisciplinary discipline in Beijing. It undertakes the construction of characteristic key disciplines, and graduates are employed and advanced in aviation, aerospace, three major oil industries, energy, materials, medicine and other industries.
The college has more than 160 full-time teachers and 25 professors, including one academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, one distinguished professor of Changjiang Scholar, four new century outstanding talents of the Ministry of Education, two new stars of science and technology in Beijing, one outstanding talent in Beijing, two national outstanding teachers, two famous teachers in Beijing, eight school level outstanding teachers, and one provincial teaching team (Beijing). The college has strong scientific research strength and has undertaken the first batch of key research and development projects launched during the 13th Five Year Plan in the past five years. The 973 Program of the Ministry of Scientific Research, the National Security Major Basic Research Program, the 863 Program and the National Natural Science Foundation of China, as well as more than 100 key and general projects, ministerial, provincial and municipal projects, received about 60 million yuan in scientific research in 2018. More than 520 papers were published in academic journals and conferences at home and abroad, of which more than 60 were included in SCI, more than 90 were included in EI, more than 400 invention patents were applied, and more than 10 provincial and ministerial science and technology awards were awarded.
