The academic seminar of "Chinese style modernization and contemporary world socialism" and the 2023 annual meeting of the Chinese Society for the History of the International Communist Movement were successfully held

In order to deeply study and implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, on November 19, 2023, the academic seminar of "Chinese Modernization and Contemporary World Socialism" and the 2023 annual meeting of the Chinese Society for the History of the International Communist Movement, co sponsored by the Chinese Society for the History of the Communist Movement and Suzhou University, were held in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province. The conference was co organized by the College of Marxism of Suzhou University and the magazine Contemporary World and Socialism.

Wu Degang, President of the Chinese Society for the History of the International Communist Movement and former Vice President of the Central Institute of Party History and Literature, Cui Youping, Director of the Fourth Research Department of the Central Institute of Party History and Literature, and Zhang Xiaohong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of Suzhou University, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. Liu Guiqin, Vice President of the Chinese Society for the History of the International Communist Movement and Secretary of the Party Committee of Beijing University of Chemical Technology, presided over the opening ceremony.

During the seminar, President Wu Degang delivered a keynote speech entitled "Mao Zedong's arduous exploration and great contribution to the socialist modernization road". More than 20 experts and scholars, including Zhang Zhikun, Gu Feng, Guo Qiang, Pu Guoliang and Professor Tian Zhijian, Vice President of the Chinese Society for the History of the International Communist Movement, focused on "the contribution of Chinese modernization to world socialism", "the new trend of world socialist development", "the new changes, new trends and new problems of contemporary capitalism" "Scientific Socialism and the Discipline Construction of the History of the International Communist Movement", "Suzhou Practice in the Perspective of Chinese Modernization" and other topics.

Wu Shihong, Vice President and Secretary General of the Chinese Society for the History of the International Communist Movement, briefed the directors and representatives attending the meeting on the main work of the Society in 2023 and made a summary of the meeting. The closing ceremony was presided over by Chen Jianjun, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Marxism, Suzhou University.

The conference has received 206 papers submitted by experts, scholars, doctoral students and graduate students from all over the country. More than 100 experts and scholars from the Central Institute of Party History and Literature, the Central Party School (National School of Administration), the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Peking University, Renmin University of China, Shanghai Jiaotong University, China University of Political Science and Law, Beijing University of Chemical Technology, Suzhou University, Northeast Forestry University and other units attended the meeting.

The conference was funded by the National Social Science Foundation of China, and it was the theme academic activity of the Social Science Academic Society of the National Social Science Foundation of China approved in 2023.
