Xi Jinping said that compatriots on both sides of the Straits belong to the Chinese nation. The Chinese nation is a great nation in the world. It has created a long history, brilliant and unparalleled Chinese civilization. Every Chinese people are proud of it. The long history of the Chinese nation of more than 5000 years records that the ancestors of previous dynasties moved to Taiwan and multiplied, and that compatriots on both sides of the Straits jointly resisted foreign aggression and recovered Taiwan. Along the way, the Chinese nation has written an inseparable history on both sides of the Taiwan Strait, engraved with the historical facts that compatriots on both sides are connected by blood.

The compatriots on both sides of the Straits are Chinese. There is no knot that cannot be resolved, no problem that cannot be discussed, and no force that can separate us. The distance between the two sides of the Taiwan Straits blocks the kinship between compatriots on both sides of the Straits. The different systems cannot change the objective fact that both sides of the Taiwan Straits belong to the same country and nation. External interference cannot stop the historical trend of family and country reunion. Along the way, compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Straits have always come down in one continuous line, linked by heart and hand, and kept watch and helped each other.

Youth is the hope of the country and the future of the nation. The future of both sides will be better if the youth on both sides are good. The youth on both sides of the Straits should enhance their ambition, backbone and confidence to be Chinese, create the lasting well-being of the Chinese nation, and continue to write a new glory in the history of the Chinese nation.

Xi Jinping stressed that compatriots on both sides of the Straits share the same blood, culture and history, and more importantly, we share the same responsibility for the nation and common expectations for the future. We should grasp the overall situation of cross Straits relations from the overall interests and long-term development of the Chinese nation.

First, firmly protect the common homeland of the Chinese nation. The Chinese nation and civilization have gone through many vicissitudes and hardships for thousands of years, but they have never stopped. The key is that the Chinese nation always has the common belief that the land cannot be divided, the country cannot be chaotic, the nation cannot be scattered, and the civilization cannot be broken. A strong and unified country has always been the destiny of all Chinese people, including Taiwan compatriots. The compatriots on both sides of the Straits should firmly oppose the "Taiwan independence" secessionist activities and the interference of external forces, firmly defend the common homeland of the Chinese nation, jointly pursue the bright future of peaceful reunification, and firmly hold the fate of the Chinese nation in the hands of the Chinese people.

The compatriots on both sides of the Straits all hope for peace and tranquility in their homes and harmonious coexistence of their families. Therefore, we must promote the peaceful development of cross Straits relations. The key is to adhere to the "1992 Consensus" that embodies the one China principle, and the core is to have a common understanding of the basic facts that both sides belong to one country and one nation. As long as we do not split the country, as long as we agree that both sides of the Straits are Chinese and a family, compatriots on both sides of the Straits can sit down and communicate with each other about their families in advance, enhance understanding, accumulate mutual trust, resolve conflicts and seek consensus.

Second, we should firmly work together to create lasting well-being for the Chinese nation. To work for the well-being of compatriots on both sides of the Straits is the starting point and the end result of our development of cross Straits relations. The goal of jointly creating the lasting well-being of the Chinese nation is grand and simple. In the final analysis, it is to realize the aspirations of compatriots on both sides of the Straits for a better life, so that all Chinese people, including Taiwan compatriots, can live a better life and jointly realize the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. We have the ability to lead more than 1.4 billion mainland compatriots to a better life, and we are fully capable of working with Taiwan compatriots to create a better future.

We always take the well-being of our Taiwan compatriots as our concern, take the lead in sharing opportunities for Chinese style modernization development with our Taiwan compatriots, share the achievements of the development and progress of the motherland and the mainland, actively do practical things, do good things, and solve problems for our Taiwan compatriots, so that our Taiwan compatriots will have more interests, more tangible well-being, and a better future.

Third, firmly cast the sense of the Chinese national community. In the long history, the Chinese nation has jointly built the territory of the motherland, including Taiwan, the island of treasure, written Chinese history, created Chinese culture and cultivated the national spirit. The compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Straits have always been a family. They should come and go often. The closer they go, the closer they become. We will take more effective measures to actively promote cross Straits exchanges and exchanges, so that compatriots on both sides of the Straits can have heart to heart exchanges, increase trust in exchanges, and promote spiritual harmony. We cordially invite Taiwan compatriots to visit the mainland more often, and we are also happy to see the mainland people visit the motherland island more.

Chinese culture is the spiritual lifeline of the Chinese nation and the common spiritual home of compatriots on both sides of the Straits. The compatriots on both sides of the Straits should strengthen their confidence in the Chinese culture, consciously act as guardians, inheritors, and promoters of the Chinese culture, enhance the sense of belonging, identity, and honor of the Chinese nation, and build a strong sense of community of the Chinese nation.

Fourth, we must firmly realize the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. After a hundred years of hard work, we have successfully walked out of a Chinese style modernization path and ushered in a bright prospect of national rejuvenation. We have not only realized the blueprint that Dr. Sun Yat sen painted, but also created many achievements far beyond the imagination of Mr. Sun Yat sen. The historical wheel of national rejuvenation is rolling forward, condensing the struggle and sweat of compatriots on both sides of the Straits. It needs compatriots on both sides of the Straits to work together and continue to struggle, and will eventually be realized in the relay struggle of compatriots on both sides of the Straits. The youth on both sides of the Straits will certainly make great achievements. We welcome Taiwanese youth to come to the mainland to pursue, build and fulfill their dreams, and continue to create better conditions and more opportunities for youth on both sides of the Taiwan Straits to grow, become talents and succeed. It is hoped that the youth on both sides of the Taiwan Straits can learn from each other, rely on each other, go hand in hand, run the baton of history well, and contribute youth strength to the realization of national rejuvenation.

Ma Ying jeou said that adhering to the 1992 Consensus and opposing "Taiwan independence" are the common political basis for the peaceful development of cross Straits relations. People on both sides of the Straits belong to the Chinese nation and are all descendants of the Chinese people. We should deepen exchanges and cooperation, jointly inherit Chinese culture, improve the well-being of compatriots on both sides of the Straits, and work together to revitalize China.
