On June 10, 2024 local time, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Foreign Minister, met in Nizhny Novgorod with the Lao Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sharinsey.

Wang Yi said that under the strategic guidance of General Secretary Xi Jinping and General Secretary Tong Lun, the construction of a community with a shared future between China and Laos has been steadily promoted. Since this year, the momentum of practical cooperation between the two countries has been strong, the volume of bilateral trade has continued to rise, and the scale of passenger and freight transport between China and Laos has reached new highs, attracting the attention of regional countries and the world. It has become a benchmark and symbol for the construction of a community of common destiny between China and Laos, and injected new momentum into the high-quality joint construction of the "Belt and Road" and regional joint development. In the face of the complex international situation and domestic development tasks, China and Laos, as friendly neighbors with common destiny, should unite and cooperate to meet challenges together, eliminate all kinds of external interference, oppose provoking camp confrontation, and earnestly safeguard the overall situation of regional peace and stability. China firmly supports Laos to be a good rotating presidency of ASEAN and work together to build a closer China ASEAN community of shared future. This year marks the 70th anniversary of the publication of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence. China is willing to work with countries in the region, including Laos, to continue to carry forward the glorious tradition of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, keep pace with the times and move towards a better future of building a community with a shared future for mankind.

Sharinsey said that the Lao Party, government and people all attach great importance to relations with China. The cooperation between the two countries has developed rapidly and the level has been constantly improved. The two sides have signed the second action plan for building a community of common destiny, laying a more solid foundation for future cooperation. Both Laos and China are socialist countries with similar concepts and systems. Both adhere to the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence and are committed to safeguarding international justice and world peace. In the face of the current complex international and regional situation, Laos China cooperation is of unprecedented importance. Laos appreciates China's constructive leading role in international and regional affairs. As the rotating presidency of ASEAN this year, Laos will spare no effort to promote cooperation between ASEAN and China and ensure the correct direction of East Asia cooperation.
