Consciousness has lost to matter——

The doctor prescribed medicine, and I also accepted it. In the future, I will have long-term drug treatment;

I wanted to find the source of consciousness, but the result was still the obvious material defect;

Just because matter determines consciousness, consciousness is put aside;

Now science can not reach, and I can not find what I want;

Now that I'm alive, I won't refuse to take medicine anymore. After all, I can at least appease some people who care about me.

This article, "Consciousness Loses to Matter", is a blog post of one of my visitors (net name is called Xiangwa). This article gave me the idea to take a closer look at his entire blog. After reading it, I felt that this is a "healthy sick person".

The reason why I published his online name is that I found that he published his real name on his blog. Not only that, he also disclosed the truth of his illness and mental journey. For example, his self introduction: "A blog of a poor child. As a record of his mental journey, or as a medical record of the mentally ill. Welcome to interpret, discriminate, satirize, comfort, destroy, and save this poor child. As a platform for communication, this is a place to vent, this is the witness of our growth, and this is my home.", It is also true that his growth is not afraid of illness.

From the patients (if they are patients), I once again felt that what is sick and healthy, what is healthy, what is healthy people being treated unhealthy, what is not sick people looking for patients to see a doctor and other phenomena exist.

After feeling, I really want to jump out of the role of psychological consultant and psychological professional perspective, and express a little inner feelings in prose like "Xiangwa".

It is often said that "the world seems to be in chaos, and people in the world seem to be crazy", as if this is what healthy people like to say.

It is often said that "what is the reason for people to live? I'm afraid of losing myself in such a crazy world". It seems that this is a favorite saying of sub-health people and so-called neurosis patients.

In fact, both healthy people and patients love to say the same kind of words, which is a chaotic combination of ideal and reality.

It suddenly occurred to me that Fromm had written an article called "Patients are healthy". I was a little excited. In order to be true and accurate, I moved his book and opened it. It turned out that "patients are the healthiest people". Oh, still the healthiest! This article is the last dialogue of Fromm in his later years. Here, a dialogue in his article is summarized——

Q: You once said that we live in a society composed of unfortunate people, and people know this kind of misfortune, how do you understand it?

F: Yes, if people face the reality squarely, they will know this. This means that most people try to show others that they are happy. If anyone is not happy, then he must be a loser, a person who has not achieved success. So people must wear a mask, which looks like happiness and satisfaction. Otherwise, he will lose his credit in the market. He is an abnormal person and an industrious person. But as long as we carefully observe these people, we will find that behind this mask are worries, depression, insomnia and misfortune.

Q: Is it the normal person we usually think is the patient in your opinion?

F: Yes. The most normal person is the most seriously ill person, and the most seriously ill person is the healthiest person. It sounds excessive and humorous. In fact, it's not true. I said it seriously, not jokingly. In patients, we can see that something belonging to human nature has not been suppressed to the extent that it cannot compete with various cultural models. Many normal people only know how to adapt to the needs of the outside world. They don't even have anything of their own. They are alienated to the extent of becoming a tool or a robot. Their real feelings, love and hate are withered because of repression. These seemingly normal people are actually people suffering from chronic schizophrenia.

Fromm has many wonderful dialogues in this article.

However, in the eyes of many normal people, Fromm is just like a madman, because what he said is black and white. How can he say that the patient is the healthiest person and the normal person is the person who hides schizophrenia?

Fromm's view has clearly defined what is health and what is patient. He seems to say that the reason why normal people are patients is that they lose their true selves and suffer from a self splitting disease due to the solidification of their false faces. The reason why the patient is a normal person must be a very real alternative person who does not accept social reality (even against social stereotypes), but may be labeled as "paranoid personality", "antisocial personality", "depression" and other sick people by many people or some social institutions. In fact, our most common sub-health population is not a normal person between neurosis and self splitting disease.

My visitor Xiangwa is a kind of strange person. In the eyes of many normal people, he is a patient who does not know where he is ill. In Fromm's concept, he is a normal person who is seriously ill.

Xiangwa is very beautiful. At present, he has only come to me for consultation three times (nearly a month). The first time was when his parents accompanied him. He seemed very casual. At the beginning of the consultation, he told me that two months ago, he was taken to West China Hospital by his parents and was diagnosed with depression. Now he is still taking antidepressants. At the end of the consultation, he gave me the impression that the whole thought was messy, rambling and jumping, the content involved was broad and abstract, and the mood was a little excited. Therefore, I also have such doubts about him: bipolar disorder?

The second time, Xiangwa's whole situation was quite different from the first time, with calm emotions and clear thinking. Although the content involved was somewhat contradictory and surreal, it was very logical. He said: "The medicine made me extremely dizzy. After I stopped taking part of the medicine, I felt that the whole person was back to reality and my mind could think clearly.". He talked about his emotional life, as well as his attitude towards society and the meaning of life. I have doubts about his diagnosis.

For the third time, Xiangwa was still in good condition, telling about his many past. In the scene at that time, his mind seemed clearer, and he constantly recalled many early memories, especially the scene where he experienced hours of loneliness and waiting in kindergarten when he was 2 years old, the death of his grandmother when he was 4 years old, various scenes (pictures) left for him, and the fear experience that has affected his emotions and cognition so far. I have a further understanding of his "depression".

I can't give conclusive analysis and judgment because he began to receive psychological consultation. Just after reading Xiangwa's blog, I learned more about his heart and had the impulse to write this article. It was not about Xiangwa himself, but about the phenomenon of Xiangwa to express a few words about "sick and not sick".

Xiangwa is a college student. He is still a child in age. But from every blog he writes, he seems to be an adult with rich heart, ideas, philosophy, and literary talent. It makes people feel that he is very cute and mature. Even if he has suffered from mental illness (depression, is an emotional mental disorder), he is also coming out of the disease. Take his recent blog post "Nirvana" as evidence——

I feel that I haven't written anything for a long time. It's like a century, from birth to death, from death to life. The long process of rebirth and nirvana.

Now that I'm alive, I'd better be a good person. Some time ago, intentionally or unintentionally, he became more and more hooligan. At last, I came back on a splendid night, and my brain's recovery made me finally have the ability to think. All accumulated emotions are released and melted in an instant.

Life is like a Woody Allen drama, full of black humor, gray areas, full of irony and ridicule.

The meaning of life is still love and hope. Rekindle the burning fire, love a woman, love a world.

The reason why Xiangwa was ill in the past, like many sick people, was because of the damage (humiliation) of things that were regarded as important values of life, such as pure feelings, noble self-esteem, heavy trust, etc. In this case, anyone is inevitably manic or emotional attack or self abuse or suicide. Because of this normal pathological attack, those who care about you will naturally send you to the hospital for treatment. The hospital will naturally give you a diagnosis and then prescribe the right medicine.

In modern society, there are too many depression, most of which are brutal misdiagnosis in hospitals. There is no way, this society is like impetuous and despotic! I don't know whether there are too many patients or the hospital is too busy. The doctor can only pay attention to the patient's evidence (symptoms) rather than your psychological background or psychological conflict. Or the doctor only pays attention to the treatment of diseases rather than doctors. As long as you are a little manic and enter the hospital, your symptoms (clinical manifestations) are the iron evidence that the hospital judges you to be depressed or other mental diseases. If you believe in the hospital, you will believe in the "sentence" of the hospital doctor. It is difficult to take off the hat of depression.

Xiangwa's attitude towards her "depression" is neither credible nor indifferent. He is also different from many sick people in that he is stubborn and contradictory. For example, he can contact the real society intimately and rebel against it; The truth, goodness and beauty of human nature are highly dependent and highly questioned. He is a typical spoiled child in China's one-child family, but he is different from the spoiled children who lack autonomy. He is too independent and thoughtful. In addition, his personality is too simple, serious, and idealistic, which determines that he is more prone to conflict and pain in life than ordinary people.

Because this society does not like people who are too independent or too self-centered, especially in a more authoritarian society or authoritarian family, people who lack self, are submissive, and have less personality are always much better than those who have ideas, personality, and their own pursuits. Many people, in order to live well, to be exact, for their inner sense of security - fear of being the target of attack by others or society, and gradually become highly social camouflage, unconsciously put on a personality mask or a thick personality disguise.

If Xiangwa is the kind of person who is prone to disease, it is also related to the hypocrisy of this society more than the truth, and the false culture of society suppresses the environment of human self development.

If Xiangwa is a patient, it is also his past. Now he is a newly born Nirvana who has just left his sick nest. It is his illness that gives him new life and makes him grow.

Those who can see their own disease, accept it and are not afraid of it are the real people who live without masks and who can get real freedom. Such a person is a healthy person who is sick and happy even if he has been ill many times in his life.
