Suzhou is one of the cities with the most close economic, trade and cultural exchanges across the mainland. In 2023, Suzhou held a series of internship, recruitment and other activities aimed at Taiwan youth. At every event, we can always see the shadow of Tai Qing and Lin Zhiyu.

Lin Zhiyu from Taipei is a "post-90s". Because his father has worked in Kunshan, Suzhou for a long time, Lin Zhiyu would visit relatives in the mainland every summer when he was young. Lin Zhiyu recalled, "At that time, we would also travel in the mainland, went to Jincheng, Shanxi and other places, to learn about the local customs of the mainland. But I never thought that I would live and work in the mainland in the future."

In 2016, Lin Zhiyu, who was about to graduate from college, was confused about the future. At this time, she saw the recruitment notice of the first "Dream Fulfilling Lucheng" summer internship activity for Taiwanese college students in Kunshan. With the idea of giving it a try, Lin Zhiyu signed up to become one of the first Taiwanese college students to practice in Kunshan.

"At that time, my internship was half a year old. At the beginning, I was still a bit uncertain. I said that I would go for a visit for two months first, but I didn't have much luggage to prepare." Half a year passed quickly. Lin Zhiyu returned to Taiwan to simply pack up, and then went to the mainland with more luggage. This time, she never left.

In Lin Zhiyu's view, "The overall atmosphere of struggle in the mainland is strong, and there is also broad space for development. Various measures to encourage employment and entrepreneurship of Taiwan and Qingdao enable Taiwan and Qingdao to take root and concentrate on development here. I started my business in Kunshan, and I got 150000 yuan of support funds. The government will also help solve problems such as loan financing."

When he first came to the mainland, the Internet of Things industry in the mainland was in the ascendant, which made Lin Zhiyu have the idea of making a big effort in the field of Internet of Things. Through cooperation with mainland friends in related fields, Lin Zhiyu founded Suzhou Jiuzhu Information Technology Co., Ltd., which focuses on providing intelligent solutions based on scenarios and industry by using Internet of Things technology. She said: "Mainland youth understand the local market and are familiar with customer needs. Taiwan youth can help attract Taiwan's resources and technology. The cooperation between the two sides is to learn from each other's strengths and work together."

According to Lin Zhiyu, the company's products involve the development of smart platforms for gas, heating, water and other public utilities, as well as the operation of smart parks. At present, the total number of users of gas platforms alone exceeds 10 million. The intelligent management platform of the park has also been adopted by industrial parks in Nanjing, Kunshan and Mianyang, Sichuan.

In addition to deep cultivation in the field of Internet of Things, Lin Zhiyu also operates across borders, opening several milk tea shops. Whenever there are internships and recruitment activities for Taiwan Youth, Lin Zhiyu, as the "elder" of Taiwan Youth interns, will participate in them, offer a cup of sweet milk tea to everyone, and then, as an experienced person, detail the gains of taking root in the mainland.

Lin Zhiyu found that Taiwan youth's interest in the mainland is gradually growing. "Many of my friends will ask me about the situation in the mainland and often entrust me to buy things from the mainland. Previously, Taiwan's friends asked me to send snail powder, and various mainland snacks are also very popular."

As the head of cultural publicity of the Kunshan City Taiwan Association, Lin Zhiyu will also share stories about the work and life of Taiwan youth in Kunshan with a social platform to encourage more Taiwan youth to visit the mainland with their own experience. "I hope that more Taiwanese youth can come to the mainland to broaden their horizons. Whether they go or stay in the end, what they see in the mainland will become a valuable experience for future development. When I first arrived in the mainland, I did not expect that I would stay. If there are Taiwanese youth who want to stay in the mainland in the future, I will also be a good guide to help them explore their own world."(
