On June 16, the eye-catching 2024 Jilin Marathon started today at Jilin People's Square. 30000 contestants ran along the Songhua River to pursue the most beautiful track.
At 7:30, with the starting gun firing and the Olympic champions Wang Junxia and Li Jianrou leading the race, the contestants set out from the People's Square next to the Beishan Park in Jilin City, the scenic spot, walked along the Songhua River with green willows blowing the dike, stepped across the river bridges with different postures flying from north to south, sprinted in the distinctive and continuous urban landscape, and bent the bow in the river Feel the long history and development pulse of Jilin City in the beautiful summer scenery.
There are 17 performance points in the main venue and along the track, 17 cheering points outside the track, and about 2500 people participate in fitness project performances and Northeast featured project performances to convey the charm of the beautiful city and the enthusiasm of welcoming visitors from all over the world.
This "Jima" is sponsored by Jilin Municipal Government and Jilin Provincial Sports Bureau, undertaken by Jilin Municipal Sports Bureau and Jilin Municipal Sports Federation, and provided with technical certification by China Track and Field Association. It continues to follow the route around the Songhua River in the previous five sessions, with three events: full marathon (42.195 km), half marathon (21.0975 km), and mini run (5 km). Since its establishment in 2016, "Jima" has attracted 160000 participants. The 30000 contestants came from 21 countries and regions, of which 44.3% were from within the province and 55.7% were from outside the province. "Jima" attracted more and more high-level athletes to participate with the most beautiful track along the river accounting for 85% of the runway and high-quality event services. This time, in addition to the top 100 athletes with gold medal results in the world, there are many elite athletes with medal results in the world. The World Athletics Federation sent event observers to Kyrgyzstan to witness the 2024 "Jima" grand event.
With eight years of accumulation and five sessions of development, "Jima" has become a highly representative and influential boutique marathon event in northern China, and an arena for runners at home and abroad to rush to. The participation of a large number of high-level players at home and abroad has made this year's "Jima" competition particularly fierce.
After more than two hours of competition, the top three of the all horse men's group successively crossed the line, and the Ethiopian players won the top three. Among them, Tesfamichar Haftom Jegai won the championship in 2 hours, 14 minutes and 6 seconds. The first place in the all horse women's group was won by Ethiopian player Baraki Gabriela Yohans in a time of 2 hours, 37 minutes and 42 seconds, while Kenya's Cherup Beatrice Geragat and Ethiopia's Hailu Messe Wright won the second and third respectively. In the half horse men's group, Ma Rui of China won the championship with a time of 1 hour, 5 minutes and 10 seconds. Mutula Daniel Mantis of Kenya and Wu Mingyao of China won the second and third place respectively. The first place in the half horse women's group was won by Tang Xiaofang of China in a time of 1 hour, 21 minutes and 55 seconds. Zhang Qian of China and Ramatiru Walker Mi of Ethiopia may respectively win the second and third places. 2024 Jilin Marathon is certified by the World Athletic Federation as an elite signage event, and China Track and Field Association as an A1 event.
