On March 26, at the spring Bravia 4K TV new product launch conference, Sony Senior Vice President Ichiro Takaki specifically mentioned that his TV business would establish a new independent company, focusing on the 4K market in the future.
Sony's wedge patent has also brought about a design that subverts the tradition. Triangle, square and circle form the design of Wedge Design, which runs counter to the mainstream ultra-thin borderless design. Can you see the mystery?

Computer News: What are the differences between wedge design and traditional TV structure?
Fujii Yuya: This wedge has an angle of 1.5 degrees. The general large-size TV, if it is 0 degrees, will give people the illusion of leaning forward and whether it will fall down. Therefore, when designers design large TV sets, they will have such a tilt angle of about 1 degree. This is a very normal phenomenon.
The reason why we use 1.5 degrees this time is that it is about 1 degree, and it is consistent with the concept of wedge. Compared with the vertical TV, the visual effect is not very different, and the visual effect is not affected. Previously, the "natural" design used a 6 degree tilt angle. At that time, because of a 6 degree tilt angle, there would be a feeling of looking down, which provided another visual effect. The 1.5 degree design has a completely different effect.

Computer News: If there is a conflict between Bravia's design and hardware requirements, how can we solve it?
Fujii Yuya: Take the wedge shaped base as an example. The base is a very important part to support the TV. This time, we use wedges to minimize the design of the base. Because TV is not only used to watch, but also hopes to have a mutual echo effect with the home environment, with various values. Therefore, when designing, we do not mean that we need to add value to some functions, but that we may remove some unnecessary designs while achieving certain functionality. It is like doing subtraction, and then get a very simple and pure design.
