Shi Yiting said after the game that it was the excellent opponents who inspired her. She said: "I was injured all the time before, and training was not in good condition. I didn't expect (to break the record) before the game, but seeing the performance of the New Zealand players was so good, which encouraged me to play." The New Zealand players mentioned by Shi Yiting are Danielle Acheson, her old opponent who has played against her for many times. They will also compete again in the women's 200m T36 finals.

The Chinese team won the men's 400m T54 medal. Hu Yang won the championship in 44.98 seconds. He set a new Asian record and world championship record in the event at the Paris World Championships last year. On the same day, he successfully defended his title and set a new record again. His teammates Dai Yunqiang and Zhang Ying ranked second and third respectively.
