Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Foreign Minister, attended the 55th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Beijing on the 26th by video and delivered a speech entitled "Cohesion of Consensus, Solidarity and Cooperation, and Jointly Promote the Healthy Development of World Human Rights".

Wang Yi said that at present, the international situation is becoming more volatile, crises and conflicts are rising one after another, and the global human rights governance deficit is becoming more serious. We should uphold the supremacy of the people, take safeguarding the interests of the people as the starting point and end result of the human rights cause, and put people's rights to survival and development in a more prominent and urgent position. We are opposed to interfering in the internal affairs of other countries and curbing their development under the guise of human rights. We should respect that all countries independently choose the path of human rights development. We should adhere to win-win cooperation and advocate dialogue to build consensus.

Wang Yi stressed that the United Nations human rights bodies should carry out their work impartially and objectively and adhere to the principles of non selectivity and non politicization. Multilateral human rights institutions should become a platform for constructive exchanges and cooperation among all parties, rather than a battlefield for group politics and camp confrontation.

Wang Yi said that the Communist Party of China and the Chinese government have always regarded working for the happiness of the Chinese people and the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation as their unswerving goal of struggle, promoted the leapfrog development of China's human rights cause, and embarked on a human rights development path that conforms to the trend of the times and suits the national conditions. As a responsible major country, China actively participates in global human rights governance and promotes the conclusion of a series of important international human rights conventions and declarations. China is benefiting all people more and more equitably from the achievements of its modernization drive, constantly improving the level of human rights protection, and will work with all parties to make new contributions to the healthy development of world human rights.
