The reproductive hospital in the autonomous region where I work has a story of leaders and pioneers who share the same feelings and work together to create "endless life".
The Autonomous Region Reproductive Hospital is located in Qingxiu District, Nanning City. It is the only public tertiary reproductive hospital directly under the Health Commission of the Autonomous Region, and the affiliated unit of Guangxi Human Assisted Reproductive Technology Management Center. As of June this year, more than 36700 test tube babies (live births) have been conceived in the Reproductive Hospital of the Autonomous Region, and nearly 70000 embryos have been preserved in the hospital for more than 20 years.
Today's glory is so dazzling, but back more than 20 years ago, the predecessor of the autonomous region's reproductive hospital, the autonomous region's family planning research institute (hereinafter referred to as the "research institute"), was struggling. At the beginning of its establishment in 1984, the autonomous region's family planning scientific research institute had only about 10 people, and it had no fixed office location and could not carry out many technical work independently. Xie Danni saw the extensive application of assisted reproductive technology abroad, and more keenly predicted that this technology would be a major blessing for infertile couples in China. Nai Donghong went to the test tube baby technology developed countries for further study in 1997. After returning to China, she actively carried out research on human assisted reproductive technology. She is the chief physician of the first test tube baby and test tube baby technology success case of intracytoplasmic injection of single sperm egg in Guangxi, and is known as "the first test tube baby in Guangxi". In 2000, the hospital added the brand of "Guangxi Reproductive Health Center", and began to provide reproductive health care services such as contraception, infertility, eugenics, etc. characterized by family planning technical services to the general population of childbearing age. In the same year, a high-quality reproduction research room and a eugenics monitoring network were established to guide the grassroots to carry out prevention and treatment of birth defects, and clinical research and application of IVF treatment, prenatal diagnosis of genetic diseases and other projects were started. The main tasks and development direction of the unit were clarified, and the goal of creating an advanced reproduction center was defined.
At the critical moment when facing the on-site audit of national experts and deciding whether the unit can implement human assisted reproductive technology, Xie Danni and Nai Donghong led the young team, stayed up overnight, quarreled, and finally joined hands to seek common ground while reserving differences. With the care and help of all parties, we actively introduced talents, purchased a series of necessary instruments and equipment, and improved various rules and regulations. In April 2000, human assisted reproductive technology (IVF research) began its trial operation in the autonomous region's reproductive hospital, and in 2007, it was approved by the former Ministry of Health to officially operate the technology. It is one of the first three approved reproductive centers in Guangxi, It is also the first reproductive center certified by the former Ministry of Health in the national family planning system.
Nai Donghong is the leader of the Department of Reproductive Medicine. He often says, "It is love that breeds life". Whenever he sees a patient's surprised face due to pregnancy and receives the message that the baby was born safely, he will feel heartfelt gratification and satisfaction. No matter how hard or tired he is, he feels it is a kind of happiness. Naidong Hong is affectionately called "Nanpa" by many patients who have been treated by him, which is also his favorite nickname. In addition to "wet dad", he also has another important identity - NPC deputy. As a member of the democratic parties, Nai Donghong actively offered advice and suggestions, and put forward a number of rationalization proposals at the National People's Congress, such as establishing a system for rational allocation of resources and abolishing hospital cadre wards.
Xie Danni has been in charge of the hospital. At the 2022 Doctor's Day ceremony, she looked back on her 38 years of medical career, from walking out of the "ivory tower" to leading the hospital forward; From controlling the population, to focusing more on eugenics and childbearing and realizing dreams for infertile groups... Huang Guangwen went out of the ward as soon as he had time to learn about the disease and psychological dynamics of each prisoner, combed in detail the diagnosis and treatment of each prisoner's disease, and patiently and carefully formulated a scientific treatment plan. When a criminal learns of his illness, his thoughts become negative, sensitive and irritable.
