Recently, Mengniu released the 2023 sustainable development report, highlighting the progress and effectiveness of the company's ESG work. The report shows that Mengniu's ESG strategy covers the whole industry chain and has carried out vivid practices in packaging and tree planting to reduce the risk of deforestation and forest degradation in the supply chain and strive to achieve "zero deforestation" by 2030.

In order to effectively carry out forest protection actions, Mengniu has carried out a number of practical actions under the guidance of two directions of controlling risk commodities of deforestation and promoting the joint construction of forest protection in the industry, and achieved certain sustainable development results. In particular, by identifying the risk of deforestation in the supply chain, Mengniu identified the main driving factors that may cause deforestation risk to forests, such as wood products, palm oil products, and soybean products, and actively sought ways to reduce the risk of deforestation in the process of commodity procurement, so as to achieve the management and control of deforestation risk commodities.

Paper is the packaging material widely used by Mengniu. In the process of purchasing wood products, Mengniu gives priority to wood products that have obtained FSC forest system certification, PEFC forest certification, CFCC forest certification and other sustainable certification, and actively uses recycled wood products. Based on this, in 2023, Mengniu will achieve 89.1% of the product's inner packaging base paper to obtain FSC certification, an increase of 7.1% compared with 2022. 100% of the product's outer packaging carton paper is made of recycled paper, which has made outstanding achievements in promoting green packaging.

In terms of soybean product procurement, Mengniu's Modern Animal Husbandry and China Shengmu have respectively reached a "zero deforestation" soybean trade intention order of about 50000 tons and 12000 tons with COFCO International, becoming the first "zero deforestation" soybean order in China's dairy industry, which will effectively promote and advocate sustainable large-scale agricultural product trade activities and play a leading role in the dairy industry.

Mengniu has also launched ecological protection initiatives and projects for many times to help forest protection and biodiversity conservation through industrial forest protection co construction activities. By the end of 2023, Mengniu's China Holy Grail has planted more than 97 million psammophytic trees by the end of 2023, relying on the past sand control project in Ulanbuh Desert after joining the China Action of "Global Leader Initiative for Planting Trillion Trees". In addition, the Mengniusuan "tree" ecological environmental protection project has continuously improved the social influence of the ecological restoration work of tree planting and desertification control by combining sports, aerospace and other fields, helping the vision of "one oasis per capita" become a reality.
