In Taiwan, Ye Zongming, chairman of Shennong Fungal Biotechnology Co., Ltd., is known as "the king of camphor trees". In recent years, Ye Zongming has been running for the purpose of promoting the development of the cross-strait Niuchangzhi industry. At a cross-strait Chinese herbal medicine industry forum held a few days ago, the reporter approached the "King of Cinnamomum camphora" and listened to his story about Fujian and Taiwan.

Nymphaea camphora, also known as Pleurotus bisporus, is a traditional edible and medicinal fungus native to Taiwan. It grows in the mountain forest at an altitude of 450 meters to 2000 meters, and only grows in the hollow interior of the decayed stem of Nymphaea camphora or on the wet surface of the fallen trunk. In Taiwan, Niu Zhangzhi is regarded as the "king of medicine" for the treatment of liver diseases, tumors and detoxification. "The number of Nymphaea camphora is small and the growth is slow, so it is known as Taiwan's' forest ruby '," said Ye Zongming.

At present, Ye Zongming's Shennong Fungal Biotechnology Co., Ltd. has set up the largest camphor wood warehouse in Tainan, and the largest cultivation center of camphor fungus in Asia in Taoyuan. They provide more than a quarter of the raw materials for Taiwan's camphor fungus industry. "The annual output of the company is less than 2 tons. We will plant the original Bolognodendron bovis into the wood core of Bologna basswood, and use the bagging cultivation method to speed up the growth of Bolognodendron bovis, so that its growth is not affected by seasonal changes." Ye Zongming introduced that the company mainly produces three categories of products, including Bolognodendron bovis health products, cosmetics and daily food.

"The output value of Taiwan's Nymphaea camphora is up to NT $3 billion every year. The mainland market is huge, and the future business opportunities are mainly in the mainland. There is a lot of cooperation space between the two sides in the research of Nymphaea camphora's ingredients, standard formulation, food safety, industrial development and other aspects." Ye Zongming said that the mainland has listed Taiwan's Nymphaea camphora on the Chinese herbal medicine import list, It is hoped that both sides will take this opportunity to work together to develop Daniu Zhangzhi industry.

In June 2015, Ye Zongming's Shennong Fungus Biotechnology Co., Ltd. signed a letter of intent with the National Research Center for Fungus Engineering and Technology of Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University. The two sides are committed to introducing Taiwan's cultivation technology of Ganoderma lucidum to the mainland, and jointly develop new edible fungus industries on both sides of the Taiwan Straits. At the same time, they plan to promote Fujian's advanced fungus technology to Taiwan.

"Professor Lin Zhanxi and I, the eldest brother, have a common wish to carry forward the technology of fungus, grass and mushroom." Ye Zongming's "eldest brother" is the standing deputy director and chief scientist of the National Research Center for Fungus Engineering Technology of Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University, known as the "father of fungus". He is the inventor of the technology of cultivating edible and medicinal fungi "using grass instead of wood" in Qinghai There are hundreds of thousands of mu of experimental sites for desertification control in Ningxia and other places. In recent years, Ye Zongming has followed Lin Zhanxi to the north and south, and witnessed the good effect of "replacing wood with grass" in the field of cultivating edible fungi and sand control and soil consolidation. Therefore, he is confident in introducing this technology.

In June 2017, Shennong Fungus Co., Ltd. was listed as the "Demonstration and Promotion Base of the National Fungus Engineering Technology Research Center of Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University". "I hope to promote the development of the characteristic industry of fungus and grass in Taiwan by establishing a demonstration base of fungus and grass cultivation for edible and medicinal fungi and fungus and grass industry." In Ye Zongming's schedule, the next step is to strive to realize the dream of "growing cow camphor fungus on fungus and grass instead of wood" with the help of Lin Zhanxi's "grass instead of wood" technology.

In addition to the introduction of fungus technology from Fujian, Ye Zongming is also committed to promoting the products of Taiwan's Nymphaea camphora to the mainland. He believes that the two sides can further strengthen cooperation in improving the food safety standards of Niu Zhangzhi, and Taiwan has accumulated a lot of experimental and clinical data in this regard, which can share resources.
